Our Halloween Was Kind Of Great

I wrote and published a lengthy blog column about Halloween yesterday. That included last year being our last year hosting our annual Halloween party. This year would have been 7 years. That didn't happen. And, it had nothing to do with COVID-19. But, I did make my annual homemade pumpkin pie whoopie pies.

This Year, Halloween Is Going To Be A Lot Different

Tomorrow is Halloween. It falls on a Saturday. It's the first Halloween in our house that we bought in February. Due to a lot of changes, we have made since then and along with the existing COVID-19 pandemic, this year is going to be a lot different.

Buying A House Changes You...

They say that life has a way of changing you. While I agree with that sentiment, I think using the word "life" is too vague. It needs to be more elaborative. Situations change you. Milestones change you. Rites of passage change you. Making tough decisions change you. Success changes you. Failure changes you. Grief changes you. And...

Can You Guess What I'm Doing?

From this photo, you've probably already guessed what I have been working on all day between my usual Work at Home Dog Mom stuff. Yep. Painting all of the door trims and doors in the hallway and entryway. There are quite a few. In both areas, we have a total of 6.

This Is What Our Kitchen Counter Looks Like Every 2 Weeks

Lisa went back to work today after a fabulous week-long staycation. To prepare for finishing up the painting in our hallway and entryway this week, I have spent most of the morning and afternoon baking homemade dog treats for our kids.

Another Productive And Fabulous Staycation

Lisa's staycation has come to an end. We had an exceptional week. It was a mix of spending lots of time with our kids and each other, painting, relaxing, and simply just doing things at our own pace. No schedule. No appointments. Aside from our shopping spree at Home Depot, we stayed home.

We Bid Farewell To Our Green And Black Bedroom

I shared this photo the other day in one of my blog columns. We had just given our Home Depot card a workout with the purchase of gallons of paint and primer and painting supplies. Oh, and an animated plush dog that sings an adorable Christmas jingle that we bought for our kids.

Paint, Primer, And A Plush Dog That Sings

Lisa is on staycation this week. We made the decision to make the trip to Home Depot to purchase all of the paint and supplies to finish painting the interior of our house. So far, the dining room and home office are done. We are in love with the rich, primitive, and slightly dark shades. When choosing the colors for the hallway, entryway, bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen, we kept that color theme in mind.

We Found Another Incredible Piece For Our Home

I absolutely love the Marketplace on Facebook. It pulls in items that are local to us. It's like online shopping, but yard sale style. We usually spend a couple of hours on the weekends checking out yard sales, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Marketplace has been our go-to for unique and vintage pieces.

I Put My Foot Down And There Was No Resistance

Lisa is officially on a staycation. Happy dance. It's been a long few weeks. As with any Saturday, there are things she wants to get done. However. Beyond that, I put my foot down. I told her that she is to be on the sofa with our kids. Total downtime. Exhale. Relax.

Our Bodacious Staycation Is Moments Away

A much needed rainy day. Recaffeinating (is that even a word?) with an iced coffee in a quart size mason jar. Dancing to Fleetwood Mac while rearranging and organizing the Bodacious DIY Dog Mom Workshop and closet. Housework. Then, whipping up a scrumptious surprise dinner for Lisa because she'll officially be on a staycation for a week. Total. Bliss.

Painting Our Dining Room Inspired Us To Step Out Of The Box With Darker Shades

Our home office is finally done! I spent a few hours focusing on final touches yesterday. That got done. I wanted to put our home office back together by the time Lisa got home, but I had to tend to an unexpected happening. Named Lennie. You can read about that here

A Happy Ending For Lennie

One of the features we instantly fell in love with when we bought our house in February of this year was the screened-in raised back porch. It's quiet. Tranquil. Our kids love laying in the sun. And, we wouldn't have to worry about bugs and critters getting in. We've had a few stink bugs and the occasional wasp sneak in, but that's it. Until today.

A Day Of Normality

Today was the day that I was supposed to finish painting our home office. However. It was dark and rainy. The home office only has a single window. If there is no sun, the lighting sucks for painting. Instead of painting, I caught up on work at home Dog Mom stuff, baking, housework, organized the pantry and linen closets, and other miscellaneous stuff.

One More Week Until Staycation Begins

It has been a chaotic couple of weeks. Lisa covered the second shift in her department a couple of weeks ago. Last week, she covered the first shift. This coming week with the exception of tomorrow, she works her normal schedule. Then, she's on staycation for a week. We are counting the days.

It Will Be 2 Months Tomorrow...

Lisa and I sat on our back porch last night after dinner. We lingered. It was a gorgeous Fall evening. Our solar lights kicked on. It was quiet. Peaceful. There was a little breeze. At times, it was snowing leaves. We joked about having to leaf blow and vacuum the leaves in both of our backyards. After a short bout of silence, I blurted out a thought that hit my brain quite suddenly.

We Decided To Eliminate The Deadlines On Our Big Bodacious Painting Project

About a month ago, Lisa and I had a conversation about our upcoming Big Bodacious Painting Project. At the time, Lisa put in for a week's vacation (staycation) in the middle of October and it got approved. Our original plan was to tackle all of our indoor painting during that time frame. However. I wanted to get it all done before her staycation. There was a reason for this.

It's Snacky Time, Mom!

Today was kind of a big deal because I continued the process of painting our home office. This was a project that I had originally planned on finishing last week. That didn't happen, but that's okay. We no longer have a deadline and we're not cramming.

Make The Lemon Tart

Last week, I saw something on my social media feed that caught my attention. It was a short account of a moment that 2 women shared while jogging one morning.

Our House. Our Home. Anything Goes.

This past week has been a little rough. My original plan was to conquer painting our home office. That didn't happen. I can't fully blame Mother Nature for the unseasonably warm and humid temperatures during the first half of the week. The rest of the blame. Well. I'm owning it.

We Are Finally Moving Forth With Our Big Bodacious Painting Project

At the beginning of the week, I was super frustrated because, after a bout of cool and crisp Fall weather, we were hit with warm and humid temperatures for over a week. Due to the humidity, I had to postpone the next state of our Big Bodacious Painting Project.
