Lisa and I veer towards unconventional in most areas of the spectrum. This includes "just because" gifts. While I love the occasional bouquet of seasonal flowers, especially tea roses, it's the unique and "so meeeeee" gifts that melt my heart. This would include paw print Duct Tape and a doggie wine glass she surprised me with not too long ago. A box o' wine wasn't too far behind to complete the "just because" gift.

Home Remedy 101: Tape & Grapes

Our Attempt At Minimizing The Wipeouts
The only floor in our home that isn't carpeted, aside from the bathroom, is our kitchen. It's covered with linoleum. During the cold weather months, at least twice a week, I'll put on a pair of slippery plush socks and dance around. Ear buds in. Blaring. This is my therapy and, often times, my means of breaking through writer's block. While I appreciate our slick linoleum floor, it's not exactly ideal for the kids. Especially Lobo.

Lobo Wasn't Annoyed With His Pumpkin Costume
This past spring, the kid's Auntie M presented Lobo with a pumpkin costume. Halloween was months away, but we put the costume on him. Total. Cuteness. Overload. She also had a lobster costume. It was a tad bit too small, however, with a few alterations, I could make it work.

BuggyBee Designs To The Rescue
Recently I confessed to having a little meltdown at Michaels. I lied. Truth is, I had two. The one over the plush dog was actually the second meltdown. The first meltdown occurred about a week prior. Several hours after Lisa arrived home with our newly purchased vehicle. I wanted decals for our windows. Something that represented who we were. I had a few ideas in mind.

A Little Meltdown At Michaels
A few days ago I had a little meltdown at one of our local Michaels Stores. We were there to shop for a new tart warmer and to check out their Halloween stuff. The 40% off 1 regular priced item coupon we had in our possession was about to expire. Off we went.

They Gobbled The Goodies With Gusto
Earlier this week we purchased a new vehicle. You can read about that here. While Lisa was filling out the paperwork that day, the topic of my baking ability had come up in conversation. After all was said, done and signed, Lisa told the car dealership gentlemen I would bake 'em up a little "thank you." That was on Monday. Yesterday morning I got up a little early. Baked. Cookies. Pumpkin bread. That afternoon, Lisa walked through the doors of the car dealership with a basket o' baked goods.

We Didn't Plan On Buying A New Vehicle Yesterday, But...
Yesterday we purchased a new vehicle. It wasn't planned. We've been in the market for a new vehicle for about a year. I know that sounds like an excessive amount of time however, it wasn't at the top of our list-of-things-to-do. If the time was right, the universe would do a lil' shimmy shake and the window of opportunity would present itself. That's exactly what happened. Yesterday.

12 Things Only Dog Moms Will Understand
We know plenty of moms to human children. Friends. Acquaintances. Coworkers. Family. Many times, we hear stories of their child's milestones. Or, we're shown a slew of photos of their child covered in frosting after they gorged on a mini baby's 1st birthday cake. On occasion, we might even be present to witness something video worthy like little Tommy drawing his first circle. On the wall. With the contents of his diaper.

Random Rant: Our New Tradition Will Be Skipping The Fairs
For the first time in years, we didn't attend any of the local fairs. As fair season neared, we had very little interest. Our lack of enthusiasm stemmed from a slew of reasons. Nothing major. We just weren't feeling it. On occasion, the topic surfaced during a conversation. Are you sure you don't want to go? Yep. You? Yep. Absolutely certain. When Bob and Char asked us if we wanted to accompany them to the fair one late afternoon, we declined. It was spa day for the kids.

This Is A Promise We Can't Keep
Once in awhile, Lisa and I venture away from home. Together. No kids. When we return, the kids are beyond excited. Jumping. Wagging tails. Juicy kisses. Sniffs. Barking. Whether we sit on the floor amid their excitement, or pick 'em up one by one, the first words out of our mouths are, "Seeeeee...we're back. Mommies will always return...."

10 Reasons Why Our Summer Didn't Suck
Back in the day, and yes I'm old enough to say that, our school days revved back up the day after Labor Day. Without fail, our first creative writing English assignment was to write an essay about "What I Did On My Summer Vacation." In those days, despite my deep love for this particular class and honors-English-status, I hated this ritualistic post-summer assignment.

Spa Day Takes Up Most Of The Afternoon
Once a month we have Spa Day here at the house. Saturday or Sunday. It gobbles up most of the afternoon. Three kids. It's a project and a half. We go through most of our towels. The floor has to be dry mopped after. A load of laundry (towels and washcloths) to follow. A few hours later, another load of laundry as the kids like to curl up in their blankets afterwards. While still wet. Or, roll around on our bed before snuggling in their blanket bungalows.

Dear Humans Who Left Their Dog To Die
You don't know me. I don't know you. The only connection we have is your former fur-kid. My wife and I, along with a handful of loving souls, saved your senior pup from an unnecessary fate. Death. For some unknown reason you were moving out of state in less than a week. Out of state as in over 3,000 miles away. I have no idea why you were making such a drastic move. Quite frankly, I don't care. What mattered to me is that a member of your family was sitting at a facility awaiting his death because you opted not to include him on this new chapter in your life.
