Lobo's Back To School Photo

It happens every year starting the middle of August and runs through the week after Labor Day. Back. To. School. Photos. Most of the people on my social streams have human kids. One photo after another after another. While I enjoy seeing the human kids dressed in first-day-of-school attire, and all the creative photo props, it gets redundant.

Apple Crisp In The Summer?

I try not to rush the seasons. Especially summer. I don't drink pumpkin spiced anything until it's officially Autumn. Apples and pumpkin aren't included ingredients in baking until the last week of September. We don't decorate our porch with mums, cornstalks and pumpkins until the first week of October. The summer season is short. Too short. I cringe at all the memes I see on my Facebook news feed broadcasting how anxious people are for pumpkin spice, hoodies, apple picking, and everything else related to Autumn.

Happy 3 Year Anniversary To Our Coco Bug

Yesterday we celebrated Coco's 3 year anniversary with us. I can't believe it's been 3 years already. Coco was our first rescue kid after our sweet Remmy was laid to rest. You can read Coco's story here. Like with all of our kids, I often reflect back to their freedom ride. Their first few days here. The progress as each week passed. The exhale moment. The many times they've crept more and more out of their protective shell.

The Kids Just Know. They Do.

I am a firm believer that. on occasion, the universe will do a weensy shimmy shake to throw me off balance. Enough to knock me down. Long enough to take a rest. This is after my stubborn nature ignores physical, mental and emotional signs that it's time to take a break. Rest for a day or two. Treat myself to a 24 hour social detox. Sleep.

Random Rant - There's A Difference Between Homemade And Semi-Homemade

I'll admit, I'm old-school. Old-Fashioned. I embrace modern technology and conveniences to an extent. It's always nice to see a photo immediately after I take it.

Remember when it took at least a week?

I appreciate being able to send and receive text messages. And email. Laptops. The Internet. Advances in the medical field. There's more, but you get the gist.

Throw Back Thursday Tribute To Our Lil' Lobo

I'm not entirely committed to posting a Throw Back Thursday on my Facebook wall every single week. I applaud the die-hard-TBT-ers. I'm always amused by the photos depicting life back in the 70's, 80's and 90's. Those were the days. Pay phones. AquaNet hair spray. Cassette tapes. Jelly shoes. MTV aired a steady stream of music videos instead of glamorizing teen pregnancy. Kids played outside. Simpler times.

Today Is Lisa's Birthday

Today is Lisa's birthday. Middle of the week. Nearly every inch of the counter is covered with bags of Bodacious Biscuit Love. Lisa will be restocking our displays and delivering biscuits to a couple of animal shelters. On. Her. Birthday. I was on the verge of feeling like the world's shittiest wife.

We Made Memories Over The Weekend

It's not often we leave the kids home alone. If we do, it's to deliver biscuit love, venture out on a biscuit love run or to grocery shop and tackle a few errands. We very seldom take off for recreational purposes. However, over the weekend, we did. Not far. Less than 10 minutes down the road. Spontaneity at its finest.

10 Reasons Why You Probably Wouldn't Enjoy Dining With Us At Home

A few years ago, we had overnight company for the weekend. At the time, Coco was an only child. That Friday night I made a huge dinner including grilled chicken. Coco's favorite. While eating, he stood close to Lisa and I. Not sit. Coco's bum has never touched our linoleum floor.

This Storm Rattled All Of Us

I lived in Ohio for a few years. The storms there were unlike anything I had ever witnessed. The lightening storms were fierce. I experienced my first tornado. Baseball & softball sized hail. Tornado sirens. Funnel clouds. Micro-bursts. I left all of that behind me when I moved back to the New England area in 2011. Two months later, Hurricane Irene hit. Two months after that, a freakish blizzard hit the end of October. It made history. Despite all, the mild New England weather has been a relief.

It's Been Over 3 Years Since I Made The Bed

The term "our" bed no longer applies. It's now "the family bed." It's covered with the kid's blankets, chew bones, toys and...fur. I've lost count how many times my legs have been scratched up by a chewed up Nylabone after stretching out underneath the blankets. That's if I can find a spot to stretch out.

All You Have Is Now. Make The Most Of It

It's moments like that give me peace of mind. Fill my heart with love. Lets me know I am on the right path. I'm where I should be. For the first time in my life, I am content. At peace. Feet on solid ground. While I do believe we should all live in the moment, away from "behind the lens" or "smartphone screen"...I had to capture this moment. After two photo shots, I stood there. Camera at my side. Eyes filling with tears.
