After Almost 8 Years Of Living Here, Packing Has Been A Bit Emotional...

I've been extremely reflective over the past week. Understandably so. I've spent all week packing because we are buying a house. We have a closing date, but we are trying to get that pushed up a bit. I'm trying to get most everything done while Lisa is at work and, at the same time, maintaining a stress free environment for our kids.

There Is So Much To Do, But We Are Getting There

We decided to use our home office as ground zero for boxes and wall décor. It's the only room that has a gate on it. It's the least used room. And, it will prevent our kids from getting too stressed out. They don't like it when things are out of place or if there are stacked boxes in multiple rooms.

The Tribulations Of Moving....

I started packing today. It was time. We have a tentative closing date, but we are trying to get that pushed up because the sellers are moving out of state the first weekend of February. We don't want our new house to be vacant between their move and the closing date.

A Little Break Amid The Chaos

There is not much to write today, but I promised daily blog columns since I published our big news. Our life goes on as it usually does minus the home office being ground zero for packing. We are taking it slow because of our kid's sensitivity to change.

Our Kids Are Sensitive To Change

We have lived in our home since mid-July of 2012. Over the years, our family has grown. We've made a lot of changes within our home during that time including, but not limited to, moving rooms around, painting our entire home, small renovations, moving furniture, etc. When any of these changes have taken place, our kids have a reaction to that.

We Are Excited For This New Chapter In Our Life, But It Is Also Sad

I shared some rather big news yesterday. We are in the process of buying a house that is absolutely perfect for our family. We've been renting our home for almost 8 years. That's a long time. Although we are excited to begin this new chapter in our life, there is a great deal of sadness.

Here Is Our Big, Bodacious Dog Mom News....

It has been over a week since I published a blog column. Yes, I feel guilty. However. Something happened earlier this month. Something really great. At first, we kept it to ourselves. Then, we decided to share with our family and friends who have become family. Toward the end of last week, we shared with a few more people. Today, well...it's time to share. Here. Because it is a really big deal and a gigantic leap...

It Was A Rollercoaster Kind Of Weekend

It was a busy, eventful, emotional, and nerve-racking weekend. But. It was a great one that will hopefully go down in the books as being worth it. We received another dose of great news this evening. I'm not going to dish out the details just yet...

So Far, The New Year Is Not Going As Planned. That's A Good Thing.

If you were to have asked us a month ago what we'd be doing the first month of the new year and new decade, our answer would not have been what's actually happening. Don't panic. It's all good. In fact, we received some extremely awesome news yesterday.

Not Everything Needs To Be Posted On Social Media As It Happens...

A friend of mine reached out yesterday inquiring about my recent blog columns, especially the one I published the other day about the Universe shifting. She asked if everything was okay. I told her yes. Then, she asked about "the Universe shifting" and what that all meant. My response was not so direct...

The Universe Is Shifting. Again.

Today is the first Monday of the new year. A new decade. Christmas is done and over with. New Year's Eve and Day have passed. There are no more paid holidays until Memorial Day. We are only a couple of weeks into the Winter season. My workload is blowing through the roof and the amount of sticky notes I have arranged on the kitchen table reflects that. However, something a little remarkable is happening.

Welcome To The Family, Lil' Red

The KitchenAid Professional 600 Stand Mixer that had been gifted to me by a dear friend for my 40th birthday died yesterday. You can read about that here. I was devastated. Lisa told me to shop around for another one, but I was convinced we'd be able to fix the old one. Sadly, as I researched parts and the costs to repair, that didn't exactly happen.

I Knew This Day Would Come...

For my 40th birthday, a dear friend of mine surprised me with an extremely generous and thoughtful gift. This. A KitchenAid Professional 600 Mixer. When it showed up on our doorstep, I was shocked. It takes quite a bit to render me speechless. I was speechless. That was a little over 6 years ago.

A Difficult Conversation With One Of My Elders, But Much Needed

Last week I had a conversation with an elder. I have known her my entire life. I'll be honest, it took a great deal of courage to have this conversation with her, but it was time. Probably long overdue. She's much older than I am. Wiser. Experienced in various fields. And, I know firsthand that despite our close relationship, she will respond with an honest tongue. That includes letting me know when Lisa and I should have handled things differently.
