Our Halloween Was Kind Of Great

I wrote and published a lengthy blog column about Halloween yesterday. That included last year being our last year hosting our annual Halloween party. This year would have been 7 years. That didn't happen. And, it had nothing to do with COVID-19. But, I did make my annual homemade pumpkin pie whoopie pies.

For starters, it snowed. We got about 4 inches yesterday. The last time it snowed in our area was back in October 2011. Much of our area got hit hard with a blizzard on October 29th of 2011.

Instead of making a cauldron of corn chowder, I made a small crockpot of homemade chicken noodle soup. And my fresh made garlic herb rolls.

Only 4 people were invited. Only 3 people showed up.

That was fine with us.

At the end of the path in front of our house, we set up a festive Halloween table with bags of candy. We sat outside.

We had a half dozen trick or treaters.

No one was out.

As expected.

But, our incredible neighbors showed up with their family. We made them special trick or treat bags. They handed us a gift bag with 2 gorgeous bottles of wine inside.

And, someone left a couple of mini bottles of wine on our doorstep.

Later on in the evening, we gave them lots of homemade soup and bread.

New traditions.

Grateful.

Blessed.
