We Will Be Celebrating And Enjoying Fall Fair Foods In Our Bodacious Kitchen Next Weekend

Due to COVID-19, all of the fairs have been canceled here in Connecticut. Even the Big E, in Massachusetts, which canceled beyond the last minute. It's the first time in decades and decades, if ever, that this has happened.

Lobo's Little Way Of Reminding Me

Back in July, Lisa got a promotion at work. With that promotion, her hours changed a bit. She goes in later and gets out later. Adjusting to that wasn't a big issue because we bought a house in February and our schedule no longer reloves around anyone. There is no bullshit. No drama. No intentional noises throughout the morning, afternoon, and evening hours. It's beyond quiet and peaceful here.

It Is Taking A Lot Longer To Paint And Detail Our Bodacious Dragonflies, But That Is Okay...

Originally when we began our Bodacious Dragonfly Project, we planned on putting them all on the back fence in the largest of our 2 backyards. However. I thought about it for a while. With all the time and effort that is going to each of these decorative pieces, I wanted to scatter them around other areas of our property.

We Are Embracing The Difference Between Then And Now

We celebrated our 6-month house-aversary last week. Back in February, we bought a house and moved in 3 days later. It was a house that we toured and fell in love with in January. We made an offer in the morning. By that evening, the sellers accepted our offer. Then, it was almost 5 weeks of packing and stress and planning.

I Spent Most Of Today In Our Bodacious Kitchen

Last week, Lisa and I received some incredible unexpected gifts. Farm fresh eggs. A jar of homemade strawberry rhubarb preserves. Green tomatoes. A decorative sign. A couple more ceiling fans for our Bodacious Dragonfly Project. We are exceptionally grateful.

We Are So Thankful For These Gifts

We are incredibly grateful for the wonderful humans who gifted us such wonderful and unexpected treats this week. Homemade strawberry rhubarb pie filling that will be transformed into a gorgeous pie on Sunday. Green tomatoes that I will be frying up over the weekend. A variety of farm fresh eggs that we will enjoy because they're our favorite. A handcrafted sign that completely radiates our personality as Dog Moms. And (not shown), the last 2 ceiling fans that were dropped off in our yard so we can complete our Bodacious Dragonfly Project.

It Wasn't Me, Mommy...

Willa is our youngest child. The one with the most energy. At least 275 times a day, she drops one of her many "bally balls" at our feet, both indoors and outdoors, for us to throw. The continuous games of Fetch. And yes, this includes Willa dropping the ball at our feet while one of us is sitting on the toilet.

Your New Life Is Going To Cost You Your Old One

A woman that we've known for quite a few years posted a quote on her Facebook wall that caught my attention. Accompanying the quote was an insightful paragraph that summed up how the quote related to her personally. It caught my attention because Lisa and I have experienced something similar since buying our house and moving back in February.

We Are Beyond Grateful

I honestly have to back up a bit and with sincere apologies. When Lisa was on staycation last week, I completely forgot about posting this last Tuesday. We were consumed with providing meals and picnic lunches for local friends and Lisa's coworkers who did not have power because of tropical storm Isaias, building our Bodacious DIY entertainment center, and starting our Bodacious dragonfly project. Something really special happened last Thursday. The day after Lisa's birthday.

And, It's Time To Begin Our Next Big Bodacious DIY Project

Lisa and I put the final touches on our Bodacious DIY entertainment center after breakfast yesterday. We moved the piece to its permanent place in the living room. Lisa put the TV on top and hooked everything up. We sat on the sofa for a bit. Amusingly watching our kids checking out their new nappy nook space. Gave each other a high five. Then, it was onto the second big project.

Lumberjack Lisa

A small tree came down in one of our neighbor's yards during Tropical Storm Isaias. A larger tree caught the brunt of it. Which resulted in the top of that tree hanging over one of our backyards. Over the fence.

We Have A Few Things To Celebrate

Lisa and I opened our home again on Sunday for our local friends and people at Lisa's work who were still without power or waiting for their fridge/freezers to rev back up before restocking. We made a gigantic feast for everyone to enjoy and send everyone home with lots of food. We fed a couple of people yesterday. Most everyone has their power restored. Today we made the last of our picnic lunches and dinners. Lisa delivered. After spending 5 days in the kitchen cooking, baking, and prepping meals, I opened a bottle of wine to celebrate.

We Made A Feast And Fed A Lot Of People Today

Early last week, our area of the state took a beating from tropical storm Isaias leaving over half of Connecticut without power. Two days later, hundreds of thousands of people were still without power. A lot of our local friends and people where Lisa works were still waiting for their power to be restored. We wanted to do something. On Thursday, I cooked and baked up a storm and we fed a lot of people. Today, we did the same thing.

Our Bodacious Kitchen Is In Full Swing And It Will Continue To Be Over The Weekend

It is 3 days after tropical storm Isaias gave our area a rather substantial beating. There are still hundreds of thousands of people without power. We're amid another heatwave. So many people have had to throw hundreds of dollars worth of food away because they did grocery shopping last weekend.

Tropical Storm Isaias Gave Us A Memorable Beating

On Monday, I mentioned that we decided to do a little storm prep because it appeared that tropical storm Isaias was going to directly impact where we live. As I am writing this, I'm still in awe that we still have power and internet because Isaias did pay us a visit and over half of Connecticut is without power.

We Are Keeping Our Fingers And Paws Crossed That Tomorrow's Storm Ends Well

Toward the end of last week, rumor had it that a tropical storm was heading up the east coast and there was a possibility that Connecticut would be hit. As with any major weather event, things can change at the last minute. At the time, I wasn't too concerned, but I kept my eye on the updates and we held off doing grocery shopping over the weekend.

I Bid Farewell To My Creative Schlump

Back in May, Lisa gathered 6 large rocks for me to paint so we could use them to decorate our front and side lawns. At the time, I was enthusiastic about this project. I thoroughly washed the rocks. I painted the front of each rock with a gorgeous shade of ivory. Then, they sat in the Bodacious DIY Dog Mom Workshop. Untouched.
