A week ago yesterday, we officially became homeowners. We were beyond excited. After over a month of paperwork and waiting, and all of the stress that goes with buying a house, it finally happened.

I Am Making A Homemade Dinner Tonight After Eating Takeout For 3 Days
There was a time when Lisa and I ate a lot of takeout. At least 3-4 times a week. It was out of control. Finally, enough was enough. That was about 5 years ago. Since then, I committed to making homemade meals and snacks for Lisa and I and relying less and less on premade items. In other words, instead of buying homemade bread, spaghetti sauce, jam, etc., I make it from scratch. The hours I spend in the kitchen each day is big part of my Work at Home Dog Mom schedule.

The Kids Are Loving Our New Home For So Many Reasons
If you're just tuning in, last Wednesday we closed on our new house. Yep. We are officially homeowners. Our Big Move was Saturday. We turned in the keys to our apartment on Sunday. Later that afternoon, we exhaled a bit with our kids.

We Are Officially Moved In And We Could Not Have Done It Without The Help Of So Many
Our Big Move day was yesterday. I was still scrambling around while Lisa went to pick up the U-Haul truck. When Lisa pulled up with the U-Haul, friends showed up. Lots of them. Everyone started loading the U-Haul and their personal vehicles with items.

A Much Needed Wine Date The Night Before We Move Into Our New House
We closed on our new house on Wednesday. I have spent the past couple of days packing the last of our belongings and cleaning. I'm worn out. There is still a lot of odds and ends stuff to do. Lisa is still covering second shift. She had to work 3-11 today. My plan was to get everything done because tomorrow is our Big Move day. However, that changed.

We Will Miss You, Our Sweet Olivia
In November of 2016, we adopted our sweet Olivia. It was more of a rescue situation. Her previous life was a bit grim. We took her in and she immediately became part of our family. That evening shortly before Petco closed, we purchased her habitat, food, Timothy Hay, treats, bowls, a water bottle, etc.

Our Valentine's Day Was A Little Different This Year
Today we broke the Valentine's Day Tradition that we've had since 2011. Between the chaos of buying a house, waiting for a closing date, having 95% of our belongings packed including the kitchen, and Lisa having to cover 2nd shift for the next week and a half, it happened. But. It was okay.

A Huge Bodacious Thank You To The Owners Of 6 Guys Firearms And Supply!
The owners at 6 Guys Firearms and Supply are amazing on so many levels. Big hearts. Professional service. Personalized laser engraving. They have adorable rescue furry kids. All around great humans. We are so blessed that our paths crossed back in 2014.

I have packed about 90% of our home. That has not been an easy task. And, if you're wondering why we are doing this, you can catch up here.

The First New Magnet For...
It was a busy weekend. Packing. Filling in nail holes. Cleaning. Finalizing details. Packing most of the kitchen essentials. Getting the baking done for the week before packing the kitchen essentials. Notes. Lots and lots of notes and reminders. Housework. Baking. Cooking. Planning. Our brains working overtime. Not a lot of sleep. That's okay. It's going to be like that for a while because we are writing the next chapter in our life.

After Going Through What We Did Back In 2014-2015, We Needed To Do Something...
I was chatting with an old friend of mine earlier today. She is very seldom on social media, but decided to check in on the overnight due to a bout of insomnia. That's when she discovered that we were in the process of buying a house. She reached out via email immediately.

Books And Bread
The past few weeks have been a complete emotional rollercoaster. We're in the process of buying a house. You can read about that here. Between packing, last-minute paperwork, waiting, and trying to stay focused, it has been overwhelming. However, amid it all, I have discovered that books and baking bread is a phenomenal distraction.

Yeah. This Is Really Happening.
The photo is too dark, but this is what our home office looks like. Yep. It's ground zero. It is filled with dozens of boxes, wall décor, pieces of décor that is too big for boxes, etc. It's filling up. Quick.
