There Is A Little Positive Light During My Extreme Bout Of Frustration

I'm aggravated. Instead of starting the process of painting our home office, I have spent most of the afternoon and evening prepping food for the week. It's warm. Humid. The 2 portable air conditioners that we rolled back out on Saturday because Mother Nature can't make up her mind are not helping much.

If you're just tuning in, you can read about our Big Bodacious Painting Project here, here, and here

Last week, we finished our dining room and it looks gorgeous!

We. Love. Color.

The next room in line is our home office and I was supposed to begin that today. Unfortunately, after a gorgeous stretch of crisp chilly Fall weather, it got humid again. The humidity is blowing through the roof.

I have to laugh at the insanity of this because the weekend before last, Lisa rolled all of the portable air conditioners into their hibernation spot until next year. It got cold. A few nights, the temperatures dipped into the upper 30's. People were turning on their heat!

Not us. Not yet.

When the heat and humidity ramped up, we dealt with it for a couple of days, but after that, no. It was too stuffy. The kids were miserable.

As I mentioned, Lisa rolled out a couple of the portables. One for the living room and the other for our bedroom.

But, it's not enough to cool off the kitchen.

That's where we are now.

We knew that by rolling out the portables, I would have to wait until the cold front came barreling through on Wednesday morning. That is the day when we can shut off the air conditioners, open our windows and I will begin painting our home office.

I know it's going to be cram time for painting between everything else I do in a day's time as a Work at Home Dog Mom.

Instead of pissing today away and wallowing in my aggravation, I decided to do do a ton of meal prep for the week. I made homemade meatballs and sauce in the crockpot.

I'm not going to lie, I swore at the crockpot for radiating additional heat into the kitchen.

I fried up a few batches of homemade chicken tenders. Sauteed chicken breasts and onions for quesadillas. Made Lisa's favorite garlic and herb mashed potatoes. Whipped up a double batch of my brown sugar-glazed carrots. Made homemade sweet rolls.

I froze the meatballs and sauce, the chicken for the quesadillas, the sweet rolls, and most of the chicken tenders. I made up a couple of heat and serve bento boxes for Lisa's work dinners. Did at least 173 loads of dishes. Cleaned the kitchen.

Exhale.

I feel accomplished but aggravated.

I typically enjoy the warmer weather this time of year and into October because that means we put off turning the heat on.

Over the years, we've kind established a game we play this time of year where we see how long we can go without turning the heat on.

This year, I'm not loving the extended heat for a couple of reasons...

We had the hottest Summer in weather recorded history for our area.

We are in an extreme drought.

Enough said.

I will wait patiently until Wednesday.

At least meal prep is done for the entire week and beyond and I can spend a little more time on our Big Bodacious Painting Project.

And, by this weekend, it will be crisp and chilly again.

It's the little things in life...
