I have started this blog column and deleted at least a dozen times. Why? My original intent was to emphasize that our kids are finally using the DIY indoor dog house that we built years ago. However. There are several misleading (what's the word?) that I discovered today in that single sentence that I needed to explain and correct.
No, our kids are not "finally" using the DIY indoor dog house.
This DIY indoor dog house was not built years ago.
And finally, the reason why our kids have not used the DIY indoor dog house in the house we bought in February is solely our fault.
After spending a considerable amount of time rereading old blog columns, I was able to...
Piece things together.
Realize that I'm getting older and my sense of time is jaded.
And, much to my astonishment, discover that we built this DIY indoor dog house less than 2 years ago.
Yikes!
Anyway...
In January of 2018, Lobo wanted a DIY indoor dog house for his 3 year Gotcha Day to share with his siblings.
Lisa built the DIY indoor dog house.
After she built it, I worked my magic in the Bodacious DIY Dog Mom Workshop. I painted the dog house. Made a mattress. A blanket. Pillows. Decor.
That included a photo collage of our 4 kids.
Finally, on January 25th of 2018, our DIY indoor dog house was done.
We put the DIY indoor dog house in the Bodacious DIY Dog Mom Workshop.
Our kids used it every single day.
When we bought a house and moved in February, we decided to put the DIY indoor dog house in our Bodacious DIY Dog Mom Workshop.
It fit perfectly.
However.
In the weeks and months to follow, for so many reasons, including COVID-19, the Bodacious DIY Dog Mom Workshop turned into a dumping station for items in other rooms as we renovated and painted.
Then, during the Summer months when we had the hottest Summer ever in weather recorded history for our area, we kept the Bodacious DIY Dog Mom Workshop closed off.
Due to COVID-19, we did not make any pieces that we have offered over the past few years. I was very seldom in the DIY Dog Mom Workshop.
Our decision to close the door to the workshop was due to not knowing where to put air conditioners to best utilize keeping our house cool. Unlike the old home that we rented since 2012, which was not insulted,
The home that we rented from July of 2012 until when we bought our house in February was NOT insulated.
Did I mention that already?
I'm sure I did.
It was not insulated.
The woman who bought the house in 2015 thought it was insulated because the realtor told her it was.
We knew it wasn't because when we signed the lease in 2012, the previous owner said it wasn't.
Anway.
When she tried to get it insulated a couple of years ago, it was a no go.
It was a classic case of asbestos siding.
Anyway...
We had endured no insulation from 2012 until February of 2019.
Long story short...
The house we bought in February is insulated.
We don't have to keep doors shut.
Or keep our heat down because of lack of insulation.
Regardless of the amount of time I spend in the Bodacious DIY Dog Mom Workshop, the door can stay open. Our kids can have full access to the DIY indoor dog house that they love and miss.
We are happy.
Our kids are happy.
And, warm.
