I Am Making A Homemade Dinner Tonight After Eating Takeout For 3 Days

There was a time when Lisa and I ate a lot of takeout. At least 3-4 times a week. It was out of control. Finally, enough was enough. That was about 5 years ago. Since then, I committed to making homemade meals and snacks for Lisa and I and relying less and less on premade items. In other words, instead of buying homemade bread, spaghetti sauce, jam, etc., I make it from scratch. The hours I spend in the kitchen each day is big part of my Work at Home Dog Mom schedule.

On a side note, our kids have always gotten homemade meals and snacks.

Prior to our decision to buy a house and move, we would order takeout once a month...if that.

I knew that once our closing date neared and more and more of the kitchen was packed, I'd have to get creative with meals for Lisa and I. And, I would have to make lots of extra snacks and cook extra lean meats for our kids to freeze as a backup during the transition.

That's what I did.

I also knew that Lisa and I would have to order takeout for a couple of days during and after our Big Move.

The day we moved, we treated everyone to fresh grinders and pizza for lunch. The pizza is homemade. The grinders are made to order. We ate leftovers for dinner.

Sunday and yesterday, we ordered local where the food is fresh, homemade, and delicious! I had fish the first night and the best clam casino pizza last night.

I ate the leftover pizza for breakfast this morning.

Despite all of the food being fresh and homemade, it wasn't the same as what I make in our kitchen every single day.

This is why I busted ass to get most of the kitchen items unpacked so the kitchen could be (almost) fully functional.

We've had to rely on a few premade items such as Lisa's work snacks and bread.

But.

Tonight, we're feasting on my homemade meatballs that are simmering in the crockpot. I'm whipping up a salad loaded with fresh vegetables.

Our meals will continue to be simple this week, however...

Lisa is on vacation next week.

We are getting everything unpacked, hanging all of our wall décor, putting the furniture where it belongs, etc.

By the end of  next week, our home will be fully functionable including Lisa's huge workshop and my Bodacious DIY Dog Mom Project Workshop.

Inhale.

Exhale.

We've got this.
