My DIY Dog Mom Holiday Gifts - Part 3

I am on the tail-end of the Bodacious 12 Days Of Christmas. We've made some awesome DIY Dog Mom Holiday gifts that have included holiday biscuit bundles, rustic ornaments, and bags of our Bodacious Biscuit Love Peanut Butter Dog Treats. You can catch up on our DIY Dog Mom Holiday Gifts here and here. It was a lot of work to pull this off, but we've had a lot of fun. We'll definitely be doing this again next year.

Over the past few days we've offered a lot of biscuit love holiday bundles. It was time to switch things up a bit. At this point, I had no idea what to make, but Lisa came to my rescue. While out and about, she purchased these raw wood pieces and said, "I know you can do something with 'em."

I always love a good challenge.

I had to sand both pieces really well. There were a lot of rough patches. After sanding both pieces, I had no idea what to do with them. Should I offer the unfinished pieces as a custom made piece or make finished pieces? Or, maybe, stop at the halfway point?

For the hanging wood heart decor, I decided to go all the way. I sanded and added 2 coats of brick red acrylic craft paint. After the paint dried, I gently sanded because I wanted a rustic, distressed appearance. Mission accomplished.

I'm especially fond of the saying, Peace. Love.Paws." That's what I hand painted on this piece. I finished it off with 2 coats of protective gloss.

This was another piece that I didn't want to part with, but I knew I had to. Our dear friend scooped it up an hour after we posted it.

The next day I posted this small leash/pup apparel holder. Like with the heart shaped piece, I sanded this really well, gave it a good coat of acrylic craft paint, and sanded again for a rustic appearance.

However, this time, I left the piece blank. I wanted to give the option of having it personalized by the person who grabbed this item. Included with the finished piece was a bag of our Bodacious Biscuit Love Peanut Butter Dog Treats.

After personalizing this item, I gave it a coat of protective gloss.

In 2017, I'd like to offer more leash/pup apparel holders and doggy toy boxes with the option to personalize and choice of colors. And, I'd provide several sizes. I found the DIY projects that are most favored are the ones that are both decorative and functional.

There's lots of great stuff planned for 2017!

Stay tuned...
