My DIY Dog Mom Holiday Gifts - Part 1

The Bodacious 12 Days Of Christmas is in full swing. Through December 12th, we'll be offering a single DIY Dog Mom Project item or a Biscuit Love Holiday Bundle on our Bodacious Biscuit Love Facebook Page. Originally, I wasn't going to post the items we offered on this blog, but then I thought, "Why not!?!?" These are really cool DIY Dog Mom Projects and they're somewhat easy to make, the supplies are relatively inexpensive, and they make great holiday gifts for those pup parents on your holiday gift giving list.

That's kind of the whole point of our DIY Dog Mom Projects page.

The first item I made and offered was a set of 3 pet themed ornaments. The inspiration for these came from the simple ornament I made for Olivia. She's our guinea pig kid. I wasn't going to make her the same dog bone shaped salt dough ornament that I made for our pup kids. Instead, I made her a wood ornament from a piece of wood that Lisa had cut.

Lisa cut 3 more pieces of wood and screwed in a small metal ring for the twine. I sanded the wood pieces until smooth and applied 2 coats of acrylic craft paint. Once the paint was dry, I gently sanded again to give each ornament a rustic appearance. I then painted a snowman on the ornaments, added the Peace, Love, Paws, We Believe In Santa Paws, and Happy Paw-lidays. Each ornament was finished with a coat of protective gloss. I used twine to hang the ornaments.

This was the final product. I had a hard time posting these to sell. I wanted them for our Christmas tree. The picture doesn't do 'em justice. Lisa did volunteer to cut more wood, but I declined her offer...for now. I will definitely be making these for our tree at some point between now and next Christmas.

I'll probably make extra to sell as sets or individually.

We're going to offer a couple of these Bodacious Holiday Bundles. I love making bundles and baskets to give as gifts. They're charming and the possibilities are endless. For this one, we used a simple cardboard container that we purchased at Target. This is where we buy most of our holiday and seasonal containers. They always have a good selection of prints, colors, and sizes and most are right around $1-$2.

I stuffed the container with a few pieces of tissue paper and added colored paper confetti at the top. I filled it with our homemade Bodacious Biscuit Love Peanut Butter Dog Treats, a small bag of our treats drizzled with a lil' sweetness, a handcrafted, reversible pup bandanna, and one of the DIY salt dough ornaments.

Have I mentioned how much I love making baskets and bundles? I couldn't resist adding this one to the list of items for the Bodacious 12 Days Of Christmas. The inspiration behind this had everything to do with our family movie nights. We snuggle on the sofa with all of our kids, enjoy a snack, and watch a movie or two.

Most of the time, our snacks are pup friendly, however, if they're not, we make sure to have some of our homemade biscuits so the kids can have a snack too.

I wanted to make a bundle that would satisfy the human and pup palate. I used a simple brown paper gift bag and filled it with a dozen homemade chocolate chip cookies, a bag of our homemade dog treats, a small bag of treats drizzled with a lil' sweetness, and a bag of microwavable popcorn.

Of course, you don't have to use a gift bag. You could use a basket or bucket or cardboard gift box. Like with the Bodacious Holiday Bundle, the possibilities are endless with what you can fill the bag, box, or basket with.

In the days ahead, I'll be adding more DIY Dog Mom Holiday Gifts!

Stay tuned!
