Today I Celebrate 43 Years Of Life

Today is my birthday. I'm celebrating 43 years of life. I'm not ashamed to admit that. To be quite honest, turning 40 was kind of great. I didn't think it would be, but much to my surprise, it's been quite the enlightening journey of sorts. I'm at that age where I'm able to shift a lot of my focus and, quite frankly, I'm not bothered by what people think of that or their opinions in general.

I'm wiser. Bolder. More intuitive. More outspoken. Brazen. Empowered. Less tolerant of stuff like drama, bullshit, and I have no problem with severing ties. I feel experienced, yet I'm anxious to learn as much as I can. I feel more inclined to educate rather than correct. I dole out fewer chances. My focus is more solid. I spend more time at home rather than out. My wife and kids are my everything. I ignore the curled lips when people discover my kids are 3 rescue pups and a rescue guinea pig. What the world thinks about that is irrelevant.

The list goes on.

Today was absolutely wonderful. Lisa took today and tomorrow off and both her and the kids have spoiled me with trinkets, treats, and treasures.

This afternoon, Lisa helped me groom the kids and give 'em all a bubble bath. I got to work uninterrupted on my DIY Dog Mom Projects while sipping one of my favorite cocktails...a Cuban Highball.

I sipped it from the new Happy Birthday wine glass I got from Lisa and the kids.

Later in the evening, I enjoyed a scrumptious Italian dinner made entirely by Lisa.

GASP!

Yes, she CAN cook.

Dinner was paired with several glasses of a glass of Apothic Dark...a sweet gift from 2 very special friends.

Lisa also baked a tiny cake that brought me back to my childhood days.

After dinner, there was lots of family snuggle time on the sofa and some Netflix.

Tomorrow, I have the honor of spending time with some of my favorite peeps to celebrate life. As always, there will be delicious food, lots of wine, great conversation, and no shortage of laughs.

For all of the above, I am truly grateful. To be able to celebrate my life with the incredible woman I'm married to, our kids, and our favorite humans is truly a blessing.

There has been, and will be, lots of memories made.

Life. Is. Good.
