I Miss The Bounty Of Our Old Neighborhood

I made the first batch of my homemade zucchini muffins late last month. I usually make zucchini bread and muffins well before. However. Since moving into the house, that we bought in 2020, we haven't had the haul of garden vegetables that we did in the past. From our neighbor friends and beyond.

Since moving out of our old neighborhood, we've had to rely on Farmer's Markets for fresh fruits and vegetables.  That is not a problem. We are more than happy to do so.

However...

Getting to the Farmer's Markets is a bit of a challenge due to work schedules. Especially since Lisa left the job she worked at for over 20 years.

Since her career shift in March, Lisa has worked Tuesday through Saturday. Our local Farmer's Market is on Saturday.

We always visit our favorite Farm Stands and Farm to Table Markets.

I'm not going to lie.

I miss our old neighborhood "Farmer's Market."

We were gifted lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, green tomatoes, corn, beans, green tomatoes, eggplant, peaches, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, etc.

In return, I made endless amounts of zucchini bread, fried green tomatoes, fried eggplant, berry crunch pies, homemade bread, jams, etc. to share with everyone.

But. Now.

Nothing.

This is why we are so determined to utilize one of our backyards as a food source. To grow fruits and vegetables. For us. And, to share.

Next year...

Maybe?
