My Bodacious Dog Mom Day Was Equivalent To Drinking Orange Juice After Brushing My Teeth

If my day had a taste, this would be it. My quart-sized mason jar of iced coffee and pickles. I seriously ate this for a snack. I love both, but when you put them today it's equivalent to drinking orange juice after I brush my teeth.

That taste could also apply to how my day went today.

If you're just joining us, yesterday I starting tackling Our Big Bodacious Painting Project. You can read about that here and here

Yesterday went really well

Today, not so much.

It was a culmination of little stuff...

My pain level was through the roof because I had to rely on trimming the top using a step ladder. I hate step ladders for so many reasons. It killed my feet, knees, and back. And my coordination sucks.

Lisa is going to build me a wooden platform this weekend for me to step on when painting.

Early on, I realized that a single coat of paint wasn't going to cut it. That pissed me off because we paid a small fortune for the paint. We won't have to buy more. It's just the extra pain-in-the-ass work that needs to be done.

In all fairness, I probably should have primed the walls first.

I realized that because I would have to apply a second coat to everything, the dining room was going to take me most of the week to paint.

My orignal goal was to paint the entire dining room and home office.

About an hour before Lisa got out of work, I sent her a text and told her everything.

I was in tears.

Our Big Bodacious Painiting Project didn't start off as planned and I felt like a failure because I knew I couldn't get both rooms done this week.

Lisa listened and replied...

"It's not your fault about the walls and paint. I will build you a platform this weekend so you won't have to use the step stool. If you only get the dining room done this week, that's incredible. We don't have a deadline. You have given yourself a month to get most or all of the painting done. Exhale. If you get it done, fine. If you don't, fine. Either way, I will be so proud of you.

Here's what you do now. Pour yourself a glass of wine. Take a long hot shower and exhale. I'll be home soon."

Yep. I got a little weepy. I also took her advice.

I am taking a break from painting tomorrow because Wednesday is a long day for me in our Bodacious Kitchen.

Then, on Thursday, I'll resume with finishing up the dining room. A much bettter frame of mind because Lisa is right. There is no deadline. It'll get done when it gets done.

And, it will look absolutely beautiful.
