I Posted This Photo Last Year For The Last Time. But I Didn't Know It Back Then.

When this photo popped up in my Facebook memories, it tugged at my heartstrings. I post this photo on my Facebook wall every year to commemorate the day we moved into our previous home on July 12th, 2012. I would have posted it today, but in February we bought a house.

This is the photo I took the day Lisa and I moved into our previous home on this day...8 years ago. I have also published blog columns about this photo. I remember that day as if it was yesterday. It was the hottest day of the Summer. Heatwave. Hazy. Hot. Humid. Lisa and I had no assistance with our move.

After we loaded up the U-Haul, we took a much needed break and stopped for iced coffee and a large cheese pizza. We ate our meal in the U-Haul. We were soaked head to toe in sweat. We were dirty. Smelly. Hungry. Thirsty.

It was one of the best meals ever.

You can read about that entire moving day saga here

Shortly before closing on our new house in February, Lisa and I decided that we were going to have dinner at our new house the day we closed.

I told her that we needed to think seriously about what we were going to eat because that would be our official Houseaversary meal every year.

It didn't take long for us to decide on pizza because we wanted to honor that very same meal we ate on July 12th back in 2012.

On February 19th, we loaded the camping table and 2 lawn chairs into our vehicle and drove to our new house.

We enjoyed our first dinner in our dining room.

It was a combination of honoring an old tradition while beginning a new chapter in our life.

When I posted this photo last July on my Facebook wall, it was accompanied by something I wrote...

Every year, on July 12th, my wife and I have pizza night to celebrate the anniversary of when we moved into our home. This year we're celebrating 7 years!

When we moved, we were amid a massive heatwave. It was miserable. It took hours to load the U-Haul Truck. Once loaded, we made a pitstop at Nuccio's for a large cheese pizza and Cumby's for 4 large iced coffees. We ate in the truck. Dirty hands and soaked with sweat. Yep, I took this photo. It was one of the best meals EVER!

On top of that, it was only 2 weeks before our wedding day. Between packing, moving, unpacking, and finishing up with wedding stuff, GAH! But, we got through it.

It's been 7 years already! Our family has grown. Our neighbor friends have become family. And, we continue to have worlds of stuff to be grateful for. We. Are. Blessed.

It's weird to think that a year ago, I had no idea that it was the last time I'd be posting that photo.

That exactly 6 months later, we would look at a house that was perfect for our family and make an offer that the sellers would except later that evening.

That a year from then, we wouldn't be living there anymore because we took a leap of faith and bought a house.

But, here we are.
