This Piece Was Meant To Be

Lisa and I are not fans of store-bought home decor. For those of you who visited our home we rented from July of 2012 until February of 2020, you know that we are unconventional. Our home was decorated with vintage and antique pieces, rustic pieces that we restored, pieces that have been passed down from generation to generation, and handcrafted gifts that our friends and family gifted to us. Most everything in our home has a story behind it.

When we bought our house in February, none of that changed. Our house is decorated with the same pieces, new pieces that we've created and restored, gifts from our friends and family to commemorate our new house, and other gorgeous finds.

Like this piece.

Lisa and I have always enjoyed the hobby of frequenting yard sales and flea markets for pieces to refurbish and restore whether to sell or keep.

One of our favorite things to do during late Spring through early Fall is to scope yard sales and flea markets. Often times, we'd get up early, grab a dine and dash breakfast, and spend a few hours hunting for treasures.

Due to the COVID-19, more people are opting for online yard sales and flea market items rather than physical.

We get it.

Shortly before dinner, I checked out the multiple online yard sale sites for our local area. Lisa was on the sofa with our kids enjoying snuggle time.

I spotted this gorgeous antique armoire.

I honestly thought the asking price was a joke because it was so low.

But it wasn't.

Lisa and I both fell in love with this piece.

I asked if they were willing to deliver as they live in the same town as us.

The asking price was so low that we offered double if they could deliver.

No problem.

The sellers were super cool and willing to deliver.

They were so kind. Between correspondence, I make a fresh batch of homemade chocolate chip cookies for them and their family to enjoy.

They were grateful for the extra cash and homemade warm, gooey chocolate chip cookies.

The seller's husband delivered and was a total gentleman.

This piece is gorgeous.

At first, we planned on putting it in our bedroom, but we both decided it would be perfect for our second living room.

The seller is grateful that it went to a good home that will appreciate this piece.

It was meant to be.
