I honestly can't believe it's the first day of August. There have been quite a few people on my social media streams who have posted that Halloween candy and Fall merchandise is already spreading like wildfire at their favorite retail locations. I've lost count how many Back to School ads I've seen. The online coupons are pouring in. Pumpkin spiced everything will be available shortly.
Rumor has it that Starbucks is going to offer its Pumpkin Pie Spice Lattes the end of August this year. It's the earliest they've ever offered them.
The wrecking ball of Summer being rushed happened on Monday.
On Sunday, when Lisa and I were out and about celebrating our 7 year wedding anniversary, we stopped at Dunkin Donuts. Lisa wanted an iced coffee. I was not in the mood for coffee.
I was on the verge of not ordering anything, but then I saw...
Frozen. Lemonade.
It was not Del's Lemonade.
Sorry, Del's, but I don't like your lemonade. It's bland. Too sweet. And lacks fresh lemon flavor.
A few seconds before Lisa gave her very specific iced Latte order, I whispered, "I want a small frozen lemonade. Small. No whipped cream."
After we paid and I got the whole straw situation straightened out, I took a sip of my frozen lemonade.
Holy. Shit.
It was the best frozen lemonade I've ever had in my entire life.
Tart. Fresh lemon flavor. Not too sweet.
Later in the day, Lisa asked if I wanted another one.
"No thank you. I will only indulge in these once or twice a week. The rest of the time, I'll sip what I've been sipping for years. Crystal Light Lemonade with fresh lemon."
On the way home from work on Monday, Lisa stopped at Dunkin Donuts for one of her favorite iced caffeinated beverages and...
A small frozen lemonade.
When she arrived home, she was holding 2 medium iced caffeinated beverages.
No frozen lemonade.
I could tell by the look on her face that she was about to dole out some bad news.
"They've discontinued the frozen lemonade."
"What?!?! I just had one yesterday. How can they discontinue it the next day? That doesn't make sense!"
"I know. I spoke to the manager and they said it's discontinued. But. I got your favorite frozen coffee with whipped cream on top for the price of a small frozen lemonade."
Big. Long. Dramatic. Exhale.
I took a few sips of the frozen coffee and put the rest in the freezer.
I seriously wanted to throw an adult temper tantrum.
Over frozen lemonade.
Discontinued? Really?
Summer isn't over yet.
