I Don't Usually Get Excited About New Clothes, But...

As a Work at Home Dog Mom, DIY Dog Mom Project enthusiast, and homemade dog treat baker, I always wear old clothes and my hair is in a sloppy bun. My 2 favorite skirts that I wear most often were purchased at Old Navy about 9 years ago. All of the turtlenecks that I own were recently stained with sheetrock plaster and paint when the renovations began upstairs in February. My 2 favorite skirts were stained as well. I've been wearing both for the past couple of months as renovations have continued in our home.

This photo depics my most recent paint-stained-hair-and forehead look.

For the past month, Lisa has been hounding me to buy a new summer wardrobe. I went to one of my favorite online retailers, put stuff in my cart, and then left it there. I had 2 reasons for doing that.

The first, I felt guilty about spending that amount of money on myself. I'm a Work at Home Dog Mom. I don't need presentable clothing for work. In addition, with all of the painting I do for DIY Dog Mom Projects, there's a chance I'll get paint on my clothes.

The second, I wanted a better online coupon than 40% off your highest priced item. I'm a bargain shopper. I've worked for online deal sites for the better part of 12 years. I'm the queen of online deals and coupons and I refuse to pay full price for anything.

My items sat in the cart for almost a month. To be honest, I forgot about them aside from when Lisa asked if I ordered my clothes.

Last night, while sharing a scrumptious dinner that our dear friend Kim made for us, Lisa asked if I ordered my clothes.

Nope. I didn't.

Lisa gave me the look.

"I want you to order them tonight or tomorrow. I'm putting my foot down. I don't care if you don't have an acceptable coupon. Order. Your. Clothes."

Exhale.

"Okay. Fine. I will."

This afternoon, I checked my promotional emails. There it was. A 30% online coupon for my entire order. When Lisa got home from work, she handed me the credit card and gave firm instructions to place my order.

I did.

I ordered 3 shirts, 3 pairs of shorts, and a maxi skirt. There was a sale going on. After applying the 30% off coupon, my order totaled a little under $100 and that included shipping and taxes.

I saved $98!

That was worthy of jumping up from my chair, giving a loud hoot and holler, and a humblebrag moment when I gave Lisa the credit card to put back in her wallet.

Lisa knows all too well that when I save more than I spend and strike some killer deals, I get excited.

She also knew that I was a little excited about having a new Summer wardrobe.

But, I didn't tell her that. I've never been one to get excited about new clothes.

Shhhhhh...
