Mother Nature Unleashed Her Fury Today. She's Not Done Yet...

Today sucked. I'm not going to lie. Despite preparing for this massive storm, I had no relief today. Why? Lisa went to work this morning. On the overnight, and up until she got up at 3:30 a.m. for work, I kept checking the Closings and Cancellations list on our local weather site. Her place of employment was not listed.
Most of Connecticut was shut down for the day.

The snow had already started by the time she left for work. It intensified quickly. By mid-morning, they upgraded the winter storm to a blizzard. The snow accumulated quickly. The wind picked up.

My anxiety skyrocketed.

I couldn't focus on a single thing for more than 5 minutes. I paced, did housework, baked, cracked open a bottle of wine, and snuggled with our kids.

I finally got the email that Lisa's place of employment was shutting down early.

That put a tiny dent in my anxiety.

Due to the wind, visibility was next to nothing. The roads were horrible. Lisa's driving skills are exceptional, especially in inclement weather, but I worried about everyone else's driving ability during the blizzard.

I kept thinking about the "what if's..."

Yes, I'm my own worse enemy.

Finally, shortly before noon, Lisa arrived home.

I exhaled at least a dozen times.

I could feel every muscle in my body loosen up. My chest no longer felt as if it were going to explode.

Mother Nature definitely unleashed her fury today. We have almost a foot of snow. The driveway and walkways had to be snow-blown twice.

Mother Nature is not done yet.

The wind and 10-30 BELOW zero temperatures are coming next.

We're taking it one hour at a time.

And keeping our fingers and paws crossed we don't lose power.
