Olivia Had Her Spa Day Today

We groom and bathe all of our kids. Yes, they get spa days here at home. The only thing we don't do at home for the pup kids is trim their nails. I used to trim them, but after snipping Coco's quick, that traumatized me for life. Even though we had Kwik Stop Styptic Powder on hand, I became a nervous wreck during the nail trim portion of their spa day. Now, we take them to the veterinary hospital for nail trims.

Our pup kids aren't the only ones who get a spa day. Our Guinea Pig kid does too. Today was the day. Olivia does exceptionally well with warm bubble baths. Trimming her nails is super easy as it can be done with a regular nail trimmer. She doesn't budge. Her favorite portion of her spa day is the warm towel snuggle and carrot that follows her bath and nail trim.

The only problem I ran into was that I forgot to take my allergy pill prior to giving her a bath, brush, and nail trim. Shortly after, my eyes started swelling shut and I couldn't stop sneezing and coughing.

After we adopted Olivia last November, I discovered I had a severe allergic reaction to Guinea Pigs. I'm also allergic to cats and pet dander. I take a daily 24-hour allergy pill to conquer all of the above.

The week after Christmas, our other kids will be getting their regular spa day. That means a bath for Coco, a fur trim and bath for Sophie and Willa, and a full groom with clippers and bath for Lobo.

This takes at least a few hours, lots of towels, and making sure it's plenty warm enough in our home so the kids don't catch a chill.

It's one of the many joys of being a Dog and Guinea Pig Mom...
