Lobo Chose Us.

Project Gotcha Day is almost done! We started around 11 a.m. and wrapped things up around 6 p.m. The entertainment center was primed and painted. I finished making the bed to go inside. I finally broke out the new sewing machine and sewed the patchwork doggy bed and matching pillows. I also made a cute little sign to put inside for decoration. The only thing we're waiting for is the paint to dry so we can put everything together. We took lots of photos, but I'm not publishing those until tomorrow.

Throughout most of the day, Lisa and I reminisced about our kids, when each of them joined our family, their past, and the strides they've made since joining our family.

When each of our kids celebrate their Gotcha Day, in the few days prior, I think back to their "before" their "after" and everything between. I go through photos. I get weepy.

With Lobo's Gotcha Day coming up on Monday, I've been thinking a lot about his first couple of weeks here with us when he was recovering.

About a week after Lobo arrived at our home as a foster, I snapped this photo. It was obvious, from the first day he was here, that he chose our bodacious, quirky family. Lisa. Myself. Coco. Sophie. The bond, with all of us, was something we couldn't put into words. Lisa and I knew from day one. He wasn't going anywhere.

Lisa and I are both very stubborn French woman. It was just a matter of who was going to break down in tears and say, "Lobo is family. He's staying with us."

I have no shame in admitting it was me who caved.

But, I still joke and say it was Lisa...

I have many "before" photos of Lobo, most of which I have never, and will never, share. They all tug at my heartstrings.

This one, though...

It speaks loud.

He. Chose. Us.
