We Have The Supplies For Our Next DIY Dog Mom Project

I've been wanting to do this for a long time. I've thought about it. A lot. Today, my brain was spinning like a hamster wheel. By late morning, I had constructed the entire masterpiece in my head. I told Lisa about my vision. She thought it was a great idea. We had some errands to run later in the afternoon and a biscuit love delivery to make. Lisa shuffled our errand schedule around a bit to fit in a quick trip to Home Depot. It was going to happen. A custom platform bed for Lobo.

Random Rant: It's Time To Dust Off The Big Ol' Etiquette Book

I was Facebook messaging with a friend the other night. It was late. She had just finished cleaning up after a gathering she hosted earlier in the day. She was exhausted, frustrated and swore up and down that she'd never host another backyard barbecue again. I asked what happened. For the next 20 minutes, she typed sentence after sentence about the stream of events. She ended her much needed rant with, "Am I old fashioned? Is this why I'm feeling the way I do?"

10 Ways We Drastically Cut Our Monthly Expenses

I've been thinking a lot about the life Lisa and I have created in the past 5 years. There have been so many changes. At one time, in early 2011, our plans were to move back to New Hampshire and start a family with human kids. That didn't exactly happen. We decided to find a home here in Connecticut, Lisa kept her job that she's been at for almost 15 years and we have furry kids who have paws and poop in the yard.

Everything That We Have To Celebrate Is Right Here

Today is a remarkably symbolic day for Lisa and I. On June 27th of 2011, Lisa picked me up at the Manchester, New Hampshire airport. After living out of state for years, I moved "back home."  Long story short, Lisa and I met almost 20 years ago. We rushed into a relationship and lived together for almost 2 years. It wasn't the right time, however, that's when the foundation of what-was-to-come formed. We remained friends for a short while. Then, after a disagreement, we had a huge blowout. We went our separate ways.

Homemade Blueberry Cupcakes With Fresh Buttercream Frosting

On Thursday we celebrated Sophie's 2 Year Gotcha Day. In this house, when we celebrate Gotcha Days, I make cupcakes. These cupcakes are delicious and made to please both the human and pup palate. The ingredients are pup friendly pending your pup doesn't have any food allergies. This time around, Sophie wanted homemade blueberry cupcakes with fresh made buttercream frosting.

The 5 Lessons I Learned Today Started With A Partially Dead Tree

I very seldom take an entire day off. For me, taking an "entire day off" translates to not doing any work from the time I wake up until the following morning.  It's been months since I've done this. In fact, taking an entire day off  happens only 2 or 3 times a year. The rest of the year, I work every single day. Holidays. Weekends. Birthday. During hurricanes before the power goes out.

DIY Party Hats For The Pups

Yesterday was our sweet Sophie's 2 Year Gotcha Day! We celebrated with her favorite dinner of grilled cheeseburgers with sweet potato fries, homemade blueberry cupcakes with fresh made butter cream frosting and, at the last minute, white chocolate covered strawberries. In the days before her special day, I wanted to make a festive Gotcha Day hat for her to wear. I also wanted to make a couple more, with different prints, for Coco and Lobo to wear on their upcoming Gotcha Days.
