In April of 2020, I made a little over 100 mask bands for Lisa and her department and beyond. Free. Very time consuming, but I wanted to help out in any way I could.
Last week, Lisa asked if I had yarn and buttons. I knew where this conversation was going. At her place of employment, masks were mandatory again.
I'm not going to lie, I was a little irritated. My Work at Home Dog Mom Life is tight because the "ber" months are days away. Right? I couldn't do my "usual" last year because of Covid.
I had the yarn, but no buttons left over. I spent over a half-hour shopping on Amazon for buttons. Score! But. I was still a little irritated. Making these mask bands is SOOOOO time-consuming.
But then, while scrolling through my Facebook feed on Saturday morning, I learned that a friend of mine of 12 years died. From Covid. She was "vaccinated." If she had to go out, she still wore a mask. She was diligent with every precaution.
This photo will soon become a published blog column next week. I'm not ready to do that now. What I WILL say is that I made 25 mask bands today.
Currently sewing on buttons.
Listening to music.
Loud.
And maybe sipping wine.
In honor of my friend.
My goal is to make 50 more mask bands this week for Lisa to donate to all of her work peeps and beyond
I've got this.
