Our Weekends Have Been Quite Wonderful. Change. Is. Good.

Our Bodacious Monday through Friday Dog Mom Life is exceptionally busy. Up at 4 a.m. A hot breakfast for Lisa. I pack her lunch. Then Lisa leaves for work. I dive into my Work at Home Dog Mom routine. Taking care of the kids. Work. Housework. Meal prep. Baking snacks for the kids and Lisa. Creating pieces in the Bodacious DIY Dog Mom Workshop. Making dinner for us and the kids. Our evening routine.

The list goes on.

On the weekends, our routine is not as scheduled, but it's busy. Taking care of the kids. Small projects around the house. Lisa spends time in the woodshop so I have pieces to work on in the Bodacious DIY Dog Mom Project Workshop throughout the week. Errands. Meal prep. Cooking. Baking. During the warm weather months...yardwork.

Again, the list goes on.

Towards the end of last year, we started making a few small changes. Those changes were part of much bigger changes that we wanted to make once the first of the year hit.

One of those changes was putting most of Sunday aside to exhale.

When I say "exhale," that doesn't mean we stop working and sit on our asses doing nothing.

What it does mean is this...

We share a homemade Sunday breakfast at the kitchen table after giving the kids their breakfast.

We do things at our own pace.

Weather permitting, we sit outside on the front porch and watch the birds feasting on our buffet of birdfeeders and suet cakes.

If the sun is out, we'll linger a bit longer.

During the early afternoon hours, Lisa lounges on the sofa with all of the kids. During this time, like now, I tackle online work stuff and begin writing columns for the following week.

What's blissful about this time is that Lisa is on the sofa with all of the kids. I can sit. Write. Focus. I'm not getting up every 30 minutes to check on the kids.

I make an early dinner.

Yesterday, we ate our annual St. Patrick's Day dinner a day early. But, we've got plenty of leftovers to enjoy today for dinner on the actual holiday.

After dinner, we'll enjoy a little family snuggle time on the sofa while watching one of our shows on Netflix or Amazon Prime.

It's a work night. That means early bedtime for Lisa and the kids.

And, shortly after, I go to bed because 4:00 a.m. comes early.

Since we've made these changes, our weekends have been much less chaotic. I know that's hard to explain because our weekends are still busy with work stuff, small projects around our home, house and pet sitting, etc.

But, the changes we have made work for us.

Our weekends have been wonderful. Productive. Slightly relaxing. Enjoyable.

Change is good whether big or small.
