My Recipe For Homemade Soft Baked Peanut Butter Pumpkin Dog Treats

It's been a long time since I've created a new, homemade dog treat recipe. Yesterday, while prepping for the big winter storm that's going to hit us tonight through tomorrow, I decided to bake several batches of homemade dog treats. On a whim, one of those batches was a new recipe I threw together. My inspiration was the little bit of fresh pureed pumpkin I had on hand after making some loaves of homemade cinnamon swirl pumpkin bread.

In a bowl or mixer (I use a KitchenAid Mixer), add the following ingredients...

1/4 cup pureed pumpkin
1/2 cup peanut butter
2 eggs
1/2 cup oats
3 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup warm water

Mix all of the ingredients. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour. If the dough feels dry, add a tablespoon or 2 of water.

Roll small wads of dough into a ball and press into a round cookie shape. Place on a nonstick cookie sheet.

Bake at 350 for 17 minutes. This time may vary. It all depends on your oven.

The finished product should have a light golden brown bottom and a dense cake-like consistency.

Once cooled, store in an airtight container or bag.

These homemade dog treats freeze very well.

Enjoy and happy baking!
