What Happened In Our Kitchen Today Was A Labor Of Love

I baked a lot of cookies this month, but today was the official Big Christmas Baking Day. It was the first year in many that it fell on the weekend and Lisa was home. She finally got to witness how much work and love goes into baking all of the Christmas cookies and confections for gifts, platters, bags, and tins.

I do want to mention that Lisa is the best "Sous Chef" around. She was a tremendous help and kept the kitchen counters cleaned and organized, washed the mixing bowl between batches, unwrapped candy, rotated the goodies in and out of the oven so I could get other stuff done, and finished the cleaning.

And, sampling the yummy love.

*ahem*

I spent about 12 hours in the kitchen. Every cookie and confection is a labor of love. Some of what I make only happens this time of year.

Overall, it was a fantastic day, but as of now, I'm completely worn out.

Tomorrow, we'll be putting together the platters, bags, and tins. We'll also be making our Christmas Gift Baskets for our neighbor friends who have become family.

Lots of work, but we're enjoying every minute of it.

For now...it's time for a little sleep.
