I Am Taking Next Week Off To Tackle My Non-Work Stuff Bodacious Dog Mom To-Do List

Towards the end of last week, I published a blog column about taking a few days off to completely tackle my non-work stuff Bodacious Dog Mom To-Do List.  Originally, I was going to take tomorrow, Thursday and Friday off to do this. However, I have a couple of custom orders to finish up and a bunch of work stuff to do. Taking those 3 days off was not an option.

This afternoon, I took an hour and went from room to room to room. I had a pad of paper and pen in hand. I made a list.

1. Fall Cleaning.
2. Deep clean all of the carpets.
3. Iron curtains.
4. Hem curtains.
5. Applique kitchen curtains.
6. Go through kitchen drawers. Get rid of any items that we don't use. Organize.
7. Organize the Bodacious DIY Dog Mom Project Workshop shelves.
8. Prime and paint the 2 hanging raw wood shelves in the bathroom.
9. Clean and organize kitchen cupboards.
10. Clean and organize the top of the fridge.
11. Bring all household plants inside. Top off with indoor soil.
12. Finish DIY doggy bed for the Bodacious DIY Dog Mom Project Workshop.
13. Paint and finish the repurposed wooden stool.
14. Prime and paint antique sewing table.
15. Finish organizing desk area.
16. Paint baseboard in the kitchen

I presented this list to Lisa over dinner this evening.

"You're not going to get this done in 3 days."

"I know. I'm thinking about taking next week off to get everything done."

"So, you're taking a week off to bust ass on the stuff you can't get done because of your workload every day?"

"Yeah."

"That's not exactly taking a week off. You don't get days off or weekends off. You haven't taken a week off in years."

"I know. I'm a Work at Home Dog Mom. That's to be expected. And, who are you to talk? The last 2 week-long vacations you took, what did we do? Ah, let's see. In May, we painted our entire home. In August, you got a bunch of projects done around the house and painted the bathroom. You're the last one who should be lecturing me."

Lisa laughed a bit. She knew I had a point.

"Okay. I know you want to get all of the stuff done on your list. I understand that. I do the same thing on the weekends. But promise me that you'll take your time. Do things at your own pace. And, take one day to rest and relax and do what you want to do."

"I promise."

"Truth?"

"Truth."

So, it's settled. I'm taking next week off.

Even though I'm going to be busy, I'm looking forward to it.

When my non-work stuff Bodacious Dog Mom To-Do List is completely wiped clean, I'll feel relieved and ready to embark on our busy Holiday season.
