We Spent Our Anniversary Mowing And Baking And Tackling Our Weekend To-Do List

Today, Lisa and I celebrated our 6 year wedding anniversary. In the week prior, throughout conversations with friends and family, the big question came up. What are your big plans for the weekend? Our response was the same. A simple date night at home. In other words, nothing extraordinary.

Last week was busy for the both of us. Between work, DIY Dog Mom Projects, tackling my To-Do list, and everything between, the week flew by. In addition, because of the tropical humidity that plagued us throughout the week, we weren't able to deep clean the carpets, bake, or mow the lawn.

What all of that boils down to is that we had a rather long weekend chore list.

We got up a bit early this morning, had our usual weekend coffee time, and fed the kids. Took them out. Lisa ate breakfast. Then, we began the process of tackling our chore list.

Lisa gathered all of the throw blankets and comforters and pillowcases to wash. She vacuumed. A half hour later, she took off to do grocery shopping.

Meanwhile, I did the dishes, finished the rest of the housework, and began the tedious task of grating a ton of zucchini.

After Lisa returned home, we put the groceries away. Lisa got a few other things done around the house while I whipped up batch after batch after batch of traditional and chocolate chip zucchini bread and muffins.

As the loaves came out of the oven and cooled a bit, she delivered to a couple of neighbor friends.

By that time, the lawn had dried enough to do yard work and mow.

Typically, Lisa gets the yard work and mowing done on Thursday or Friday, but it's been disgustingly humid all week. We've also had freaky rain storms multiple times a day all week. The lawn is thick. Between the rain and humidity, it's been impossible to mow.

The backyard alone took Lisa over 2 hours to mow. She had to go over it twice.

As it neared 5:30 p.m. she decided to call it quits and do the rest tomorrow. The kids needed to be taken out and fed dinner. Lisa wanted to shower. We had one more basket of baked goods to deliver. I needed to prep our dinner.

By the time we sat down to eat, it was 7:00 p.m. I could tell Lisa was worn out. She had been out in the heat and humidity for too long.

After a quick dinner, we sat on the sofa with the kids for family snuggle time. Within an hour, Lisa was dozing off. I tucked her and the kids into bed around 9:30 p.m.

That concluded our wedding anniversary day.

Tomorrow is looking to be just as busy.

When I tucked Lisa and the kids into bed this evening, she asked, "Are you disappointed with today?"

I told her no. I wasn't.

This is our life. We're busy Dog Moms.

Most weeks, we're able to get a lot of extra stuff done during the week. Some weeks, we're not and it carries into our weekend.

This was one of those weeks. Between the weather and work, our Weekend To-Do list got longer and longer.

The stuff on that To-Do list has to be done every week regardless of the circumstances.

This year, this weekend, it included the day of our wedding anniversary.

But, I'm not going to complain.

This is our life.

We wouldn't have it any other way.

Lisa and I would both like to take this opportunity to thank a couple of our neighbor friends who extended their kindness today. We were blessed with beautiful cards, goodies, and monetary congratulations to spend on a date night. We are exceptionally grateful and proud to call these sweet people family.
