This Is One Of My Favorite Moments During The Day

One of the constant struggles that Lisa and I have always had involves the moment she gets home from work. My first instinct is to offer her a snack and convince her to relax a bit. Exhale. However, Lisa's mode is to empty her lunch bag, get out of her work clothes, to check Our Big Bodacious Dry Erase Bulletin Board, and tackle small chores around the house that I wasn't able to get to.

Since her promotion last year, the time she arrives home varies. Sometimes it's 1:30 p.m. Other times, it's been after 6 p.m.

When I have questioned her about not taking a break between work and home stuff her response is that if she relaxes, she'll get too relaxed.

"When I get home, I like to keep a steady pace whether it's doing a load of dishes or mowing the lawn. If I sit for too long, my energy drains."

I understand where she is coming from. With my funky sleep schedule, I know all too well that sitting on the sofa or taking downtime for any length of time can quickly deteriorate energy levels and end with dozing off.

But...

That does not stop Lisa from taking a little time out when she gets home from work to spend with the kids. Every. Single. Day.

I love the moment when she arrives home from work. Opens the door. All of the kids run to the door barking and wagging their tails. They're so happy to see her. And, they scramble to get the first of her attention.

Depending on what time she gets home, I wait to give the kids their second afternoon snack. Then, it's time for juicy kisses, snuggles, and playtime.

It's one of my favorite moments throughout the day and evening.

Yep. It's the little things.
