Our Homemade Peanut Butter Banana Soft Baked Dog Cookie Recipe

On Sunday, Lisa had to work. I got up with her at 4:30 a.m. We had a cup of coffee together and she was out the door a little before 6. The kids were still sleeping. I didn't feel like sitting at my desk or the kitchen table. I slowly gravitated towards the baking cupboard. It had been a while since I created a new, homemade dog treat recipe. While I sipped my second cup of coffee, I pulled ingredients out of the cupboard. Crushed some dried bananas. Measured. Cracked a couple of eggs.

An hour later, and after a few alterations, these homemade Peanut Butter Banana Soft Baked Dog Cookies were in the oven.

To make these beauties, you'll need...

1/2 Cup of Peanut Butter
2 Eggs
3 Cups of Flour
3/4 Cup of Crushed Dried Bananas
1 Teaspoon of Cinnamon
2 Teaspoons of Baking Powder
1 1/4 - 1 1/2 Cup of Warm Water

Mix all of the ingredients together.

The dough for these homemade dog cookies will form a nice ball that won't stick to your hands. If your dough is too sticky, add a little more flour. If it's too dry, add more water a little at a time.

This time around, I didn't bother will a rolling pin or cookie cutters. I took tiny wads of dough, rolled it like I would a meatball, and pressed into a cookie shape.

Make sure to use a non-stick cookie sheet.

I baked these treats at 350 for 22 minutes. That time may vary depending on your oven. The bottom of these cookies should be a light golden brown. The tops will be soft to the touch and spring back to shape when you press down lightly.

Our kids loved these cookies. We shared them with our fur-nieces and they gobbled 'em up.

This recipe makes quite a few soft baked dog cookies. Store them in an airtight container preferably in the refrigerator. They freeze well too!

Enjoy and happy baking!
