I'm Dedicating My Birthday To Spreading Holiday Love And Cheer

We're nearing the end of October. It's difficult to fathom that. The. End. Of. October. This year is almost over with. We're heading into the busiest time of year. In less than a month, we'll be putting up our Christmas tree and outdoor Christmas decorations. In the next week or so, I'll be making sample pieces of our Bodacious 2017 Holiday Ornaments to post and sell. Our favorite event, Whiskers In Wonderland, is on December 2nd. It'll be our 4th year participating. Is it just me or did 2017 fly by at a rapid speed?

Last weekend, Lisa mentioned that my birthday is coming up in a little over a month. That topic of discussion surfaced when we were chatting about how quick this year had flown by and we'd be putting up the Christmas tree and decorations, both indoor and outside, in less than a month.

I had been thinking about my birthday over the past week or so...

Lisa always takes a day or 2 off right around my birthday. Although Lisa and I don't make a big deal about exchanging gifts for special occasions and Christmas for each other, we always plan something around our birthdays. Sometimes, we take an afternoon and go out or we enjoy a date night at home with our kids.

This year, for my birthday, I wanted to do something different.

To back up a bit, every year around the holiday season, we always do something special for a family or 2 who have fallen on hard times.

We've always opened our home up on Thanksgiving for people who have no place to go or family and friends to celebrate with.

As it nears Christmas, we do a couple of fundraisers for families who are in need and open our home to those who have no place to go.

A couple of years ago, in November, we gathered about $800 in raffle items for a benefit event to raise money for David Soros.

Last year, we did a fundraiser to help out a family in need that a friend of ours knows. We raised enough money to fill their refrigerator and cupboards for a bit, provided a full Christmas dinner, and have some presents under the Christmas tree for their kids.

This year, I wanted to do something a little different...

My inspiration behind that was the changes we've made with Bodacious Biscuit Love over the past year and a half. We pulled our reigns in closer to home. We've been helping local pet parents in need along with other situations.

That has taught us that there's a need for assistance right here in our neighborhood, amid our Bodacious Community, and sometimes, within our tribe.

During the past year, I've had quite a few people reach out because they've endured hardships. Those hardships have been all over the charts. Lisa and I have the utmost respect for confidentiality so I will not share the hardships that have been shared with me.

What I can say is that some of these people are not looking forward to the holiday season. Others aren't looking forward to it because there's been a whirlwind of drama within their circle of friends and family.

Regardless, it's obvious there's a lot of people who need some Holiday Love and Cheer...

Today, I told Lisa that I wanted to dedicate my birthday to Spreading Holiday Love and Cheer.

As quoted on my personal Facebook wall...

My Birthday is on December 8th. I've decided to dedicate my birthday to hosting a Holiday Party on December 9th at our home to spread Love and Holiday Cheer. Scrumptious food. Music. Adult beverages. Acceptance. Unity. Gifts. And, more!

The doors are opened to our sweet peeps who need a lil' Holiday Love this year. It's a been a difficult year. You've shared your stories with me in confidence. I have the utmost respect for confidentiality. I WILL NOT be sharing your stories with others. With that being said, we can host up to 25 people. So far, we have 12. What that means is reach out to me...there is a place for you here to celebrate. You. Are. Welcomed. At. Our. Table.

The details are as followed...our doors open at 2 p.m. It's potluck style. We'll have the Fixin's for a traditional Holiday dinner. Desserts. Drinks. Appetizers. If you'd like to bring a Holiday side or dish that's special to you, we welcome anything.

If interested in attending, please reply or send a private message. Our home is a Judge-Free Zone. No one will be judged and judgment will NOT be tolerated.

As of now, we're almost at full capacity.

Our home is small, but there is room for everyone.

It's not about me and my birthday this year.

It's about spreading love and cheer. Giving people something to look forward to. Making memories.

I'm looking forward to it.
