The Sewing Machine Got A Workout This Week

I revved up the sewing machine this week and managed to finish a couple of Bodacious Patchwork Doggy Quilts. Originally, in honor of it officially being Spring, I wanted to use some lighter colored fabric, but I found myself drawn the darker shades. To brighten things up, I added some yellow squares with applique hearts. My artistic brain justified this as, "It's still cold and raw outside, but brighter and warmer days are ahead."

The first of this week's Bodacious Patchwork Doggy Quilts went up for grabs on Wednesday! This adorable handcrafted piece measured 30 inches wide and 41 inches long.

The patchwork squares featured a dark plum print and solid reddish brown. There are 3 appliqued squares with applique hearts in a mix of contrasting mustard yellow print and solid. The back of the quilt is the same dark plum print that's featured on the front. There's also a layer of quilt batting inside for extra warmth.

A wonderful lady from our Bodacious Community scooped this quilt up and we'll be shipping it out early next week.

This adorable Bodacious Patchwork Doggy Quilt was up for grabs earlier today. It measured in at 30 inches wide and 41 inches long.

It features a maroon doggy print fabric with pups and blue-ish colored paw prints...which we matched up with the same solids. We also added a dog bone and 2 heart shaped appliques. The back of the quilt is a soft off-white solid. And there is also a layer of quilt batting inside for extra warmth.

As of now, this quilt hasn't sold. I'll give it a couple more days.

If it doesn't sell, I'm keeping it.

There's 2 reasons behind that decision.

The first...

Last summer, when Lisa and I made the DIY Doggy Platform Bed, I didn't have a sewing machine. The blanket and pillow I made for the platform bed was all sewn by hand.

I also didn't have much fabric.

My future plans, at the time, was to eventually make a patchwork doggy quilt for the platform bed.

The second...

Remember Project Gotcha Day back in January? Lisa had picked up some really cool doggy print fabric. Unfortunately, I only had enough to make the curtains for the lounge nook.

Last week, Lisa found the same doggy print fabric.

If this Bodacious Patchwork Doggy Quilt doesn't sell by the end of the weekend, I'm going to put it in the lounge nook. The patchwork quilt that's already in the lounge nook will be transferred to the DIY Doggy Platform bed.

Next week, I'm going to take a break from making Bodacious Patchwork Doggy Quilts because I want to create some patterns for Bodacious Aprons and Bodacious Tote Bags.

Creating patterns isn't easy and very time consuming.

I'll keep you posted on my progress....
