I Officially Declared Today As "Catch Up Day"

The past few days have been a total blur. I can't remember the last time I was this exhausted. I'm behind on a few work things. I need to bake more biscuit love. My blogs have fallen a bit behind. To be expected. On Thursday, our family got a little bigger. It's been a bit of a challenge because the newest addition to our family, Willa, is in heat.

She's already been introduced to Coco, Sophie, and Lobo. That went exceptionally well. However, because she's in heat, the amount of time she's allowed to roam around with her siblings is limited. It's a precautionary measure. Once she's out of heat, the time won't be limited.

And, I'll be marking my calendar because once she's out of heat, we'll be making an appointment to get her spayed 2-3 months from that day. We've spoken to several doctors. Some say 8 weeks after heat. Others say 12. More than likely, we'll have it booked between the 2.

This temporary challenge required us to shift things around. My schedule. Instead of staying up on the overnight to get work and other stuff done, I'm grabbing a few hours of sleep. I get up when Lisa gets up for work and I stay up.

I'll admit, I like this. I have more time to get stuff done, but it has taken every ounce of effort to adjust. Going from one sleep schedule to another within a 24 hour period is tough.

I'm dragging ass at this point.

Under the circumstances, I've given myself a little slack. I haven't been too hard on myself. I started the process of catching up yesterday. I've officially declared today as the Catch Up Day.

I finished the second Bodacious Doggy Patchwork Quilt for the week. Organized our Biscuit Room. Created a new, homemade dog treat recipe for the week. Baked Biscuit Love. Started another Bodacious Doggy Patchwork Quilt. Vacuumed. Swept & mopped kitchen floor. Caught up on oddball housework stuff. Errands done. Dinner prepped for the kids. Veggies sauteed for a scrumptious vegetarian pizza for Lisa and myself. Olivia's produce is prepped for a few days.

Happy fur-kids. And now...happy Dog Mom. Yes. I cracked open a bottle of wine. Much needed. Long overdue.

We've got this and when I say that, I mean it. It's not just some novelty social media witticism like "totes adorbs" or "just saying" or "this doesn't suck."

Over the past almost 6 years, our family has grown. None of our kids were planned. Our lives have changed with each of our kids and when they first joined our family, for the first month or two, it was exceptionally challenging and expensive and was accompanied with many challenges.

Lisa and I have swam many oceans and climbed our fair share of mountains because of this. The Universe has shifted and done its little shimmy shakes time and time again. Fate has stepped in. Our mindset is, "Whatever it takes..."

We are also beyond grateful to those who have been supportive and have gone above and beyond to help us out during this time. With each addition to our family, we've had that support. It makes all the difference.

A year from now, when we celebrate Willa's first Gotcha Day, I'll write about these moments. I'll reminisce. Lisa and I will have many conversations that start with, "Remember when...."

This has happened with all of our kids.

I look forward to all of that, but in order to get to that point, we have to get through this. The here and now. We will. One day at a time.

And, yes, we've got this.
