A Lil' Funky DIY Splash Of Color

It's been almost 3 years since I've had my hair professionally cut or colored. The last time I visited a salon, it cost me over $100. I have long hair. To be expected. Between my crazy Dog Mom schedule and cringing at the thought of spending that kind of money on myself, I've gravitated towards DIY. When the length gets too long, Lisa gives it a good trim. When I'm in the mood to add splashes of color, I do it myself.

Almost a year has gone by since I've added splashes of color. It was long overdue. Today was the day. I needed a lil' change. I needed to do something for me. I was feeling a wee bit shabby.

I dusted off my hair stuff and began the process.

What would take about 2-3 hours at a salon took me about 6.

Between applications of lifting color, wash, dry, depositing color, wash dry, adding more color for vibrancy, wash, and dry, it takes a long time. In addition, during this process, I was painting DIY ornaments, getting some work stuff done, tackling housework, giving Lobo a quick bath because he walked through his pile of fresh poop outside, and prepping dinner.

This is probably why I waited almost a year to add my funky splashes o' color.

It's a lot of work.

It's not something I can rush through.

I don't mute the world when I do this.

The world doesn't stop when I tend to my hair.

I'm not sitting in a salon chair, away from home, while someone does this for me.

Despite the little challenges throughout the day and my choice to DIY, it came out awesome. I love it. It's the perky lift I needed.

I need to do this more often.

I always say that.
