My Manic Mondays

I refer to Mondays as my Manic Mondays. I am fully aware of the memes and banter that ties into Mondays being the worst day of the week, however, none of that has persuaded me to label Monday as manic. It sorta just happened on its own...

Most of you are aware that I adhere to a third shift schedule. During the overnight hours it's quiet and there are minimal distractions. I get a lot of work done especially writing.

On the flip side, Lisa works Monday through Friday. What that boils down to is my schedule, both sleep and daytime, is different Friday night through Sunday night.

The kid's schedule is also different on Saturdays and Sundays.

If Lisa takes a vacation day or has a paid holiday, the fluctuation of our schedule is extended.

The manic portion of my Mondays begins when I get up around 9 or 10 in the morning. The kids are somewhat restless because they're transitioning from the weekend schedule to the weekday schedule.

My body is adjusting too.

I bake dog biscuits on Monday. I begin around 11 and wrap it up around 5 or 6 in the evening.

Between making batches of dough, rolling, cutting and baking, I work on composing a few articles for work. This always involves research. I have deadlines.

I also tackle my pile of virtual work.

And, I plan out meals for the week, write out a grocery list, prep dinner for the kids and us, schedule delivery and shipping times for biscuits, and schedule in extra stuff that we've committed to. This could include baking cupcakes for a birthday party or cookie platters, planning for upcoming events, etc.

Meanwhile, I'm taking care of our kids and pacifying their restlessness with extra snuggles, belly rubs, playtime, etc.

As the saying goes, "Throw me to the wolves and I'll come back leading the pack."

Manic Mondays.

I deal.
