Our Kitchen Makeover Is Done And We Are Head Over Heels With The Transformation

When Lisa asked what I wanted for my birthday week, I mentioned that I wanted to give our kitchen a makeover. We knew it would be the most challenging area. That is why we waited until Lisa's staycation this week to tackle it.

The entire kitchen was originally painted white.

We hate white walls.

The backsplash tiles were even white.

Prior to the makeover, we had to make some decisions that went beyond choosing colors.

The first, do we remove the backsplash tiles or prime and paint them? We decided to prime and paint them because down the road, we're replacing the countertop, refrigerator, and stove. That will probably happen in 2021 or 2022. Once that happens, we'll update the backsplash.

The second, are we going to eventually replace the cupboards? We have a lot of cupboards in our kitchen and we love the style. We know the man who built them. So, we decided that we would not replace them. We'd paint them and eventually replace the hardware.

The last, should we update the popcorn ceiling? For now, no.

With those decisions made, we went forth with our makeover.

Lisa removed all of the cupboard doors and painted them.

Then, we painted the walls and trim.

What a difference!

We painted the walls a gorgeous Tea Light and the cupboards and trim a primitive Blanched Thyme. The new curtains are beige and white checkered.

This was our biggest project, but it was worth every minute. We are head over heels in love with the makeover.

It was worth the wait.

The last room that we'll be painting is the bathroom.

We'll be tackling that project on Lisa's long New Year's weekend.

I'll keep you posted...
