The Best Date Nights Are Spent At Home

Lisa and I have not eaten at a restaurant since February because of COVID-19. It's not something we did often because of Lisa's work schedule and I make almost everything homemade here in our Bodacious Kitchen. But, once in a while, we ventured out to enjoy a meal at one of our local favorites.

The number of COVID-19 cases here in Connecticut has risen a lot over the past month and a half. Our governor shifted from phase 3 of our state reopening back to phase 2. He has also signed more executive orders in the past week including limiting gatherings to 10 or less and a curfew.

Long story short, we are back to where we were in April and May.

Lisa is getting out of work early today.

She also has a 3 day weekend because she used a floating holiday.

I wanted to celebrate the start of a 3 day weekend.

Normally, we would have celebrated with dinner out and running errands.

But.

COVID-19.

So.

I spent a good portion of this afternoon making a "date night" meal.

Spinach artichoke dip on top of crostini.

Shrimp scampi ravioli.

Raspberry turnovers for dessert.

All homemade except for the ravioli.

My goal is to master all things pasta next year.

I know there is a shit ton of controversy surrounding the whole COVID-19 virus and having to wear masks, other mandatory stuff, and governmental executive orders.

I don't respond to the memes and negativity and protesters.

I also don't talk much about it.

It's kind of like politics and religion.

It's private.

What I will say is that we know people who have tested positive. We know people who have been sick from COVID-19.

Lisa is an essential employee. She has been since all of this COVID-19 stuff began.

I can count on one hand how many times I have been out in public since February.

Since the numbers here in Connecticut have risen over the past month and a half, as I mentioned earlier, we are back to where we were back in April and May.

Essential errands only.

No going out.

I am homebound.

So.

Date nights are spent at home.

And, they are great.

With special homemade items that I don't make often.

Like tonight.

Better than takeout.

We are making the most of it.

As it should be.
