10 Reasons Why I Love The Fall Season
I adore the Fall season. It's my favorite. I was born and raised in New Hampshire. By the lakes and mountains. My parents took us to the county fairs during the Fall season. We took scenic drives on the weekends during peak foliage. Picked out pumpkins to scatter around the indoors. Drank apple cider. Raked leaves. Stacked wood. The list goes on.
To this day, it is still my favorite season.
As an adult, I embrace the Fall season for different reasons...
1. Bugs. After the first and second hard frost, the bugs go back to hell where they belong.
2. No More Air Conditioners. Although I am grateful for artificial cold air during our Summer heatwaves, I hate recycled air and the price we pay to keep things cool behind closed doors. Our electric bill doubles during the Summer months.
3. Baking. Nothing warms a home like having the oven on to bake. From October until late May, having the oven on serves double duty. Baking and keeping our home super toasty.
4. Seasonal Produce. Yes, we love Summer produce, but we also love the abundance of Fall produce like apples, squash, pumpkins, and root vegetables.
5. Backyard Fires. Who wants to sit beside a fire during the Summer months when it's 75 degrees and humid at 9 p.m.? This year, we can also add mosquitos that are spreading Eastern Equine Encephalitis in our immediate area. Officials have been warning residents to limit outdoor activities between dusk and dawn.
6. Pumpkin Spiced Everything. Bring it on!
7. Soup! Soup! Soup! During the Summer months, we eat a lot of salads. By the time the Fall season hits, we are ready for soups and homemade bread.
8. Outdoor Playtime. Our kids love the Fall season just as much as we do. Not too hot or cold.
9. The Colors. As much as we love the vibrant greens when the trees foliate during the Spring and the Spring and Summer flowers, nothing beats the colors of Fall.
10. Fleece Pants. Need I say more?
