I Created Another Homemade Dog Treat! Here Is The Recipe!

Last week, I created a new homemade dog treat recipe. It was the day before we went grocery shopping. That made it the perfect day to Spring Clean the kitchen cupboards and refrigerator. I had a container of Greek Yogurt that I needed to use up and a few carrots in the produce drawer. My inspiration behind this treat was using those pup friendly odds and ends ingredients to create a scrumptious treat.

I had just enough eggs and peanut butter to experiment...

I threw the following ingredients into our KitchenAid Mixer...

1/4 Cup Peanut Butter
2 Eggs
1/2 Cup Coconut Greek Yogurt (you can substitute another pup friendly flavor)
1/2 Cup Shredded Carrot
4 Cups Flour
2 Teaspoons Baking Powder
1 Teaspoon Cinnamon
1/2 - 3/4 Cup Warm Water

Start off with using only 1/2 cup of the warm water when mixing. Mix well. If the mixture is too dry, continue adding a little water at a time until you get a nice ball of dough.

If by some chance you add too much water and the dough is sticky, you can toss in a little more flour.

Take off small bits of dough and roll into a ball. For large treats, the balls should be the size of a golf ball. For smaller treats, about the size of a big gumball.

Once you've rolled into a ball, flatten the ball as if making a hamburger patty. Put them on a non-stick cookie sheet and bake at 350 for 16 minutes.

Your time may vary depending on your oven.

The finished product should be a light golden brown on the bottom and have a soft cookie consistency when you break in half.

Allow to cool before serving and storing. These treats should be stored in an airtight container or ZipLoc style sandwich bags. Keep refrigerated. They also freeze very well.

Enjoy and happy baking!
