Just When You Think The Cold & Flu Season Is Done And Over With...

Well, it's not allergies. I've been on the sofa most of the afternoon with a high fever of almost 103. Yep. A fever. Aches. Chills. The worst sore throat I've ever had in my entire life. My hair even hurts. Despite my best efforts and begging and pleading, Lisa put her foot down today.

The both of us were supposed to take our older neighbor friend out for dinner and shopping. At the last minute, after taking my temperature, Lisa told me no. She was heading out solo. My fever was too high. She wanted me on the sofa. Resting.

Fine. I didn't argue. She left. About 20 minutes later, she showed up with some Wonton soup. Then, headed back out. I ate a tiny bowl. Then, I dozed on and off until she arrived home a few hours later.

During the entire time she was gone, the kids snuggled with me on the sofa. They knew Mama was sick. After Lisa got home and took the kids out, she filled a glass with ice and VitaWater, brought it to me, and started a conversation.

Lisa has tomorrow off because she worked Sunday.

"So, what's on the agenda for tomorrow?"

"The same as it was a couple of days ago. Head to the grocery store early so I have the stuff to prep for the graduation party on Saturday."

Lisa's eyes got a bit wide.

"Did you let people know you were sick and had a high fever?"

"Yes."

"And....?"

"And what?"

Lisa inhaled slowly and then exhaled.

I knew what was coming. Lisa is one of those people who kind of sits back, observes, doesn't say too much, but...

When she does, it's because there's a good reason to do so. And she will speak up. And that's when I keep my mouth shut. Listen. Respect. Honor.

She is just like her Dad.

"Is the party being postponed?"

"Not that I know of. I let the recipient know and sent a text photo of the thermometer after taking my temp when it was close to 103. I let them know the party will go on. I haven't heard anything disputing that yet. It's late. I'm going to assume all is going forth as planned."

Lisa didn't say too much after that.

I'm fairly certain I dozed off between that point and when she and the kids went to bed.

And, as of now, I have nothing more to say.

I'm tired. Sick. Weak.

I have medicine head.

I bid my farewell until tomorrow...
