The Jumbo Wooden Dog Bone Photo Collage is Done

Over a week ago, a rather large box was delivered to our doorstep via UPS.  Inside of the box was a jumbo, custom-made wooden dog bone. I had plans for this gorgeous piece. Last weekend, I started the process. Throughout the week, I was busy tackling work projects. I only had a bit of time here and there to work on the jumbo bone DIY Dog Mom Project. Today, we finally finished it.

This is what our kitchen table looked like for most of the week. Each day, I took an hour to put another coat of paint on the wooden dog bone or frames. Every piece got 2 coats of paint.

The most time-consuming part was distressing the frames. Once that was done, I stenciled on pawprints and then gave each frame a decent coat of satin varnish.

This morning, I ordered prints from CVS. Lisa ran a few errands and picked up the photos. By the time she got home, I was ready to put the photos in the frames. Lisa and I positioned the frames on the bone. When the glue dried, it was ready to hang.

We chose the wall by the front door. Originally, it was going to hang in the kitchen where the gigantic clock is. The clock stopped working about a month ago. If Lisa wasn't able to fix it, we'd have to take it down. Fortunately, after a few minutes of tinkering with it, Lisa got it working.

It was a happy moment for us. We both really, really love that clock and there's a story behind it.

The bone was hung by the front door. It's the perfect spot. We both love it.

I've been wanting to print and frame photos of our kids to hang throughout the house. This jumbo wooden dog bone was the perfect piece to be the base for a photo collage.

It'll be a treasured piece for many years.
