The Recipe For My Homemade Apple, Cheddar & Cinnamon Dog Treats

Here is the first of my homemade dog treat recipes for 2018! Today was the day. Our doggy biscuit baking cupboard is fully stocked. Today's inspiration was simple. I had a couple of small apples I needed to use. What pairs deliciously with apples? Sharp cheddar and cinnamon. Yum.

In the mixer, I combined the following. Keep in mind that you do not need a mixer for this recipe. You can combine all ingredients by hand.

1/2 cup of peeled and shredded apple
2 eggs
1/4 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1/2 to 3/4 cup of milk (or water)
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 teaspoons baking powder

Mix ingredients well. If the dough is too dry, add a little more milk or water. If it's too tacky, sprinkle in a bit more flour.

Make sure to flour your hands and the surface where you'll be working your dough. Roll out the dough to a 1/4 inch thickness. Cut with your preferred cookie cutter.

If you don't have a rolling pin or cookie cutters, you can press out balls of dough into patties. These can vary in size depending on your preferences, however, keep the thickness to 1/4 of an inch.

On a non-stick cookie sheet, bake the biscuits for 20 minutes at 350 degrees. The baking time may vary slightly based on your oven. When the biscuits are done, they'll be golden brown on the bottom and have a soft-baked consistency.

Our home smelled amazing while these biscuits were baking. And yes, as always, I tried a nibble before letting our kids taste test.

Thumbs and paws up!

Make sure to refrigerate these biscuits after a couple of days.

And, like with most of my homemade dog biscuit creations, they freeze well.

Enjoy and happy baking!
