Vegan Sushi, Date Night, And Snuggles With The Kids

Friday was an emotional-suck-fest kind of day. It stung. I severed the last tie that needed to be severed. For good. At that point, I had 2 choices. The first, to wallow in the darkness and crappy residue. Or the second, as a dear friend posted, "Reset. Readjust. Restart. Refocus. As many times as you need to." I chose the second. Because she was right. And, sometimes, she's my rock even though she may not know that.

Friday night, my wife and I went on a date. We ate dinner at a restaurant for the first time in over a year. We shared a pumpkin sugar cookie. I bought her a 7 foot Halloween inflatable for the front yard and new chew antlers for our kids.

Saturday, we had our favorite humans over for dinner. My favorite chef taught me how to make vegan sushi. Our spread was better than any takeout. Ever. We sipped lemon breezes and had a few hours of girly chat.

Sunday, I groomed our kids. Took a day off from work stuff. Exhaled. Snuggled and napped with all of our kids.

Today, I woke up refreshed. Focused. There's some yucky sludge leftover from Friday, but I'm taking that negative energy and using it to motivate me. Art. Music. Writing. Work. My work at home Dog Mom life stuff. I feel empowered. I'm looking forward to the great stuff coming up in the next couple of months.

Life is good. Face forward. Onward march.
