Here's The Recipe For Our Homemade Bodacious Apple Pie Dog Treats

Most of our homemade dog treat recipes are made with peanut butter. I'm working hard to create recipes that are peanut butter free. A few days ago, we did just that. Our inspiration behind this week's recipe was a simple apple. I've been focusing more on using fresh fruits and vegetables instead of dehydrated. After a couple of tries, I came up with a scrumptious recipe for Bodacious Apple Pie Biscuits. They're made with simple ingredients and are super easy to make.

In a bowl or mixer, combine the following...

1 medium apple, peeled, cored and grated
1 egg
3/4 cups oats
2 cups flour
1 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 - 3/4 cup hot water (start with 1/2 and add more if needed)

Mix well. When handling the dough, you'll want to flour your hands as this dough is a bit sticky. Make sure to flour your counter really well.

Roll the dough to the thickness of pie crust. You'll have to flour the top of the dough while rolling.

Use a cookie cutter of choice. The dough can be worked and rolled as many times as needed until you run out.

Bake at 350 for 22 minutes.

Once cooled, they'll harden for a nice firm crisp if left out for 24 hours.

If you'd like the soft baked version, roll the dough a little thicker to about 1/4 an inch. After baking, allow to cool and then put biscuits in an airtight container or Ziploc style bag.

Happy baking!
