Congratulations To Lisa!

Over the past couple of weeks, I've made subtle mention that a change may be coming. Today, I can finally let the cat out of the bag. Lisa got a promotion at work. It's been a process and one she had to go through over the past couple of weeks. Or, more accurately so, the past year because of the Management Training Program she had to complete.

I won't go into details because I'm not aware of them all, nor am I familiar with how her company runs. What I can say is about 2 weeks ago, in order to be considered for this promotion, she had to submit a resume and cover letter and get through 2 interviews with upper management.

Lisa was nervous. I don't blame her. She's been with her company for 15 years this July. Most of her experience, prior to this job, has been in the management field. She was waiting for an opportunity to prevent itself. It did. She didn't hesitate.

Yesterday, she was informed that she got the position. She is now the assistant department manager for transportation and a floating ADM.

I can't even begin to express how proud I am of her. My wife. The Mother of our fur-kids. The woman who taught me the ropes 20 years ago. The woman who goes above and beyond and never complains about how tired she is. The woman who gives her all at work and at home. She's one of the hardest workers I know. She busted ass. She endured. She got it.

After the good news, I immediately planned small party for this evening. I invited our neighbor friends who have become family. I made semi-homemade pizza, cupcakes, and a couple of appetizers. Our neighbor friends brought side dishes. I was extremely grateful for that because I couldn't have pulled this off without their help.

It was her night and she sported a smile from ear to ear.

Her promotion will alter our schedule a bit at home. There will be mornings when she'll have to go in earlier than her usual time of 6 a.m. Most days, she'll have to work late. I'm sure, on occasion, she'll have to go in on a Saturday.

Change is never easy, but we'll get through it. Day by day. As a work at home Dog Mom, my schedule is flexible. Lisa's promotion and the perks trump any inconvenience on my part.

Congratulations, Lisa! We are so proud of you! You've earned this.
