The End Of 2016 Is Ending On A Good Note

At least 1,214 people have asked us what we're doing for New Year's Eve. Okay, that might be a slight exaggeration. It's more like a few dozen. Regardless, my answer is always the same. We stay home. With our kids. Always. And...

We make a nice dinner. Have a few drinks.

Our kids get a special dinner too.

This year, a couple of our neighbor friends are joining us for dinner and drinks.

Lisa is firing up the grill because all of us are sick of ham and turkey dinners.

We are craving grilled fare.

There will also be homemade beans, cheesy potatoes, a veggie platter, fresh fruit, and chips.

Simple food.

Our kids will feast on grilled burgers, sweet potatoes, fresh diced fruits and veggies, and dessert.

Dessert is homemade ice cream cookie sandwiches. Peanut butter cookies. Vanilla ice cream.

The "hooman" version will be rolled in chocolate chunks.

The "pup" version for our kids and our fur-nephew won't be rolled in chocolate.

Our friends adore our kids.

There will lots of scrumptious food. Great conversation. No shortage of laughs. Adult beverages.

Lisa and the kids stay up until the ball drops.

That's no problem for me because I don't usually fall asleep until 4 in the morning.

Tomorrow, we'll be baking biscuit love. That's how we're spending the first day of the new year.

And, as an extra bonus, Lisa has Monday off because New Year's Day falls on a Sunday.

Exhale.

The end of 2016 is ending on a pretty good note.

We are grateful.
