We'll Just Have To Make Our Own

Lisa and I ran a few errands late afternoon on Friday. Out of habit, I always check out the pet section. It doesn't matter if we're at a mass retailer or the Hallmark store, I like to see what they have for the kids. Friday was no exception. And, like so many other times in the past, I was disappointed. It wasn't the quantity of stuff offered, it was the message.

I'm always looking for doggy themed decor. There is so much out there I would purchase, but the message on the wall hanging, frame or ornament doesn't fit our family.

Our kids have 4 paws.

All you need is love and a dog.

A house is not a home without a dog.

If my dog makes you uncomfortable, I'd be happy to lock you in the other room.

Home is where my dog is.

The list goes on.

I walk away empty handed and disappointed for several reasons.

We prefer the term fur-kids or kids.

Not all of our kids have 4 paws.

We have 3 kids therefore text needs to be pluralized.

Each and every time I see the generous display of dog-themed items that we're not able to purchase because of the above mentioned, I tell Lisa, "We need to do something about this."

By "something" I mean create items that are more personalized and cater to preferred terms and special needs fur-kids.

The inspiration is there.

Now, what to do with that.

I'm on the verge of making our own.

Seriously. I am.
