Our Bodacious Framed Chalkboard Wall Is Finished

I don't usually post the "after" photo first, but in this case, I did. To back up a bit, back in November, we finished painting our hallway and entryway. For most of both areas, we had decor for the walls. That includes the DIY wall mounted coat rack that we hung up on Friday.

We had a single portion of the hallway that needed something. We flirted with the idea of hanging framed photos or primitive wall decor. But. We wanted to do something different.

How about a chalkboard wall?

Yes!

Before tackling this project, I did a little research and watched a few videos. Neither one of us was familiar with chalkboard walls or pieces.

After watching a few videos and researching the best chalkboard paint to use, we went forth.

This brand of paint was our final choice based on reviews. I ordered it online along with white and colored chalk and erasers.

We took measurements of the wall and trim because we wanted our chalkboard wall to be framed.

Lisa cut some old pallet wood down to size. I painted. She distressed them. We prepped the wall and painted it with several coats of chalkboard paint.

Once dried, we seasoned the area.

Then, we installed the frame.

We are head over heels in love with how it came out.

And, we're like little kids because this area of the wall is exactly like the chalkboards we grew up with in elementary school.

This project was super fun and it's the perfect addition to our home.
