We Made Another Big Decision Over The Weekend...

How do I even begin this post? Okay. Let's start here. Due to COVID-19, we have not made any DIY Dog Mom Project pieces this year to sell. That included birdhouses, garden signs, custom orders, Fall pieces, Halloween pieces, and unique pieces that we gave a makeover to and offered to the public.

During Lisa's staycation last month, we made the sad decision to not go forth with our Bodacious 2020 Holiday pieces. We usually make quite a bit and we're slammin' during November and most of December. However, we shifted our frame of mind to, "back by popular demand."

Our wood slice Holiday ornaments.

I made the announcement earlier this month that we would be offering, in limited supply, these personalized wood slice ornaments.

But.

Long story short, we changed our minds.

This year has been tremendously difficult for so many people.

Friends. Family. Local businesses.

On the COVID-19 end of things, our state is back to where we were in April and May.

As quoted from one of my blog columns last week...

"The number of COVID-19 cases here in Connecticut has risen a lot over the past month and a half. Our governor shifted from phase 3 of our state reopening back to phase 2. He has also signed more executive orders in the past week including limiting gatherings to 10 or less and a curfew."

It's not just our state.

I've seen quite a few posts mentioning that we will have another spike in the next month because of the approaching Holidays.

Amid all of this, I've seen more and more social media posts of people putting together Holiday meals and gifts for those who have felt the brunt of COVID-19 in one way or another.

This weekend, Lisa and I talked about the many ways we can spread Holiday Love and Cheer over the next month or so.

Over the years, we have always opened our home on Thanksgiving and Christmas to those who have fallen on hard times or had no place to go for Thanksgiving.

We have raised funds to assist families who needed assistance with gifts and food.

The list goes on...

This year, even though we have to do things differently, we're going to continue down that path.

Instead of offering our Bodacious 2020 Holiday ornaments for sale, I'm going to paint and detail the wood slices with uplifting messages and Holiday sentiments.

We're going to give them as gifts to the friends and family and beyond who surround us.

It has been a difficult year for all of us in one way or another. Because of COVID-19. We had the first wave in the Spring. It appears we are having a second wave.

So...

With Thanksgiving being less than 2 weeks away and the Christmas season almost here, let's be kind. Let us not judge because we don't know the stress and struggles that our friends, family, and neighbors are going through.

Build longer tables, not higher fences.

As we have always said, great things are done by a series of small things brought together.

Do what you can do.

Every gesture whether big or small makes a big difference.

Our decision is that we will not be selling any DIY Dog Mom Projects for the remainder of the year or taking custom orders.

Our focus is on spreading Holiday Cheer and Love.
